Suzlon Group plans to invest INR 10,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh as part of its expansion in the state, including the development of 1,325 MW of new wind projects in Anantapur district. The projects are expected to generate around 4,000 direct and indirect jobs, while the company is targeting 5 GW of additional renewable energy capacity in Andhra Pradesh by 2030. Suzlon already has more than 1,700 MW of installed wind capacity in the state and has invested around INR 12,000 crore there since beginning operations in 2004.
Suzlon Group plans to invest INR 10,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh as it expands its wind energy operations in the state. The investment will include 1,325 MW of new wind projects in the Rayadurg constituency of Anantapur district.
Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh is scheduled to inaugurate Suzlon’s new S144 wind blades at Huliker village in Kanekallu mandal of Anantapur district on Tuesday.
The new projects are expected to create around 4,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. Suzlon is also targeting 5 GW of additional renewable energy capacity in Andhra Pradesh by 2030.
The company currently has more than 1,700 MW of installed wind energy capacity in Andhra Pradesh. Suzlon began operations in the state in 2004 and has since established a manufacturing and project presence in Anantapur district.
Its rotor blade manufacturing facility at Ippuru in Kuderu mandal is one of its key manufacturing facilities and supports wind projects in partnership with major energy companies, including Tata Power.
Suzlon has invested around INR 12,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh so far, including its blade manufacturing operations in Anantapur. The facility accounts for around 40% of the company’s blade production and has an annual production capacity equivalent to 1,260 MW.
The company’s operations have generated employment for around 2,200 people in the state. Suzlon is also working with the Andhra Pradesh government on a green skills development programme to train young professionals for the renewable energy sector.
Wind Energy Learning Centres have been established in Uravakonda and Vijayawada, where around 12,000 young professionals are being trained. Women account for around 25% of the trainees, according to the company.
