Synopsis

A three-day global energy event in New Delhi is expected to help advance an investment and partnership pipeline worth INR 45,000 crore in India’s power sector through 2032. Bharat Electricity, POWERGEN India & Indian Utility Week 2026 will bring together more than 15,000 professionals, over 250 exhibitors and more than 150 industry leaders to discuss smart grids, renewable energy, low-carbon solutions and digital utilities. The event will also provide a platform for project development, technology procurement, joint ventures, manufacturing proposals and strategic partnerships across the electricity value chain.

A three-day global energy event scheduled to take place in New Delhi next month is expected to unlock investment potential of around INR 45,000 crore in India’s power sector, according to its organisers.
Bharat Electricity, POWERGEN India & Indian Utility Week 2026 will be held from September 1 to 3 at Yashobhoomi, IICC. The event is expected to attract more than 15,000 professionals, over 250 exhibitors and more than 150 industry leaders, with discussions covering smart grids, renewable energy, low-carbon solutions and digital utilities.
The organisers said the potential INR 45,000 crore investment and partnership pipeline could be progressed through 2032. The opportunity is expected to cover projects, technology procurement, joint ventures, manufacturing proposals and strategic collaborations as India expands its power generation, transmission, storage, distribution and digital infrastructure.
Senior representatives from the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy are expected to participate along with institutions including NITI Aayog, the Central Electricity Authority and Invest India, as well as leading industry bodies.
Delhi will participate as the host state, while Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal and Bihar are expected to participate as focus states.
Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Honorary Chairman, Bharat Electricity Council, said the INR 45,000 crore opportunity should be seen as a portfolio of projects and partnerships that could support India’s energy security and long-term competitiveness, rather than only as a headline investment figure.
Participation is expected across the electricity value chain, with organisations including NTPC Limited, NLC India and Coal India. International companies and industry delegations from North America, Europe, Africa and Asia are also expected to explore investment, technology transfer, manufacturing and market-entry opportunities in India.
Abhishek Bhatnagar, Director General, The Energy & Climate Initiatives Society (ENCIS), said India has the ambition, capital and technology required for the power transition, but the key challenge is turning these opportunities into bankable infrastructure projects that can be implemented within defined timelines.
