The Chhattisgarh government has signed two memoranda of understanding with the Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) and National Logistics Data Services Ltd (NLDSL) to expand the use of geospatial technology and integrated logistics data under the PM GatiShakti framework. The agreements are aimed at improving infrastructure planning, identifying connectivity gaps and supporting investment. More than 35 state departments are already onboarded on the platform, with 41 mandatory and over 600 additional data layers mapped. The state has also developed 45 use cases and 30 tools for infrastructure and development planning.
The Chhattisgarh government has signed two MoUs with BISAG-N and National Logistics Data Services Ltd to strengthen the use of geospatial technology and logistics data under the PM GatiShakti framework. The agreements are intended to improve infrastructure planning and help the state identify gaps in connectivity and logistics while supporting industrial development and investment.
The pacts were signed during a PM GatiShakti and LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop organised jointly by the state Commerce and Industries Department and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. The agreements with BISAG-N and NLDSL were signed on August 20.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the PM GatiShakti platform was helping the state use data for infrastructure decisions, identify connectivity and logistics gaps and better align industrial development. He said the approach was also supporting conditions for investment and sustainable economic growth.
Chhattisgarh has onboarded more than 35 state departments on the PM GatiShakti platform. The state has mapped 41 mandatory data layers along with more than 600 additional layers and developed 45 use cases and 30 tools to apply the platform to infrastructure and development planning.
The state is already using the platform for several practical applications. GIS-based mapping is being used to identify road black spots so that authorities can target measures to improve road safety. Similar data-based methods are being used to identify villages with inadequate access to banking facilities and to optimise bus routes under government schemes.
The government has also used geospatial planning to improve connectivity at tourism locations, where around 600 mobile towers have been installed. In Nava Raipur, around 700 acres have been finalised under the Bhavya Scheme.
The state's use of geospatial technology also extends to wildlife management. The Forest Department's Gaj Sanket application uses geographical data to support measures aimed at reducing human-elephant conflict.
Chhattisgarh has emerged as one of the leading states in implementing PM GatiShakti and was recognised as a high performer among landlocked states in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade's LEADS 2025 assessment. Officials from DPIIT and NLDSL, along with representatives from Bihar, Odisha, Maharashtra, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand, attended the workshop.
The latest agreements are expected to give the state greater access to integrated spatial and logistics information while planning roads, connectivity, industrial areas and other infrastructure. For a state with growing industrial and logistics requirements, combining these datasets can help authorities assess infrastructure needs before taking up new development projects.
