GMR Hyderabad International Airport has started handling Emirates SkyCargo's dedicated Boeing 777 Freighter service on the Taipei–Hyderabad–Dubai route, strengthening its position as one of India's key air cargo hubs. The new service is expected to improve the movement of pharmaceuticals, electronics, semiconductors, perishables and other high-value shipments between East Asia, India and the Middle East. With a payload capacity of more than 100 tonnes, the freighter will also support growing demand for technology-related cargo while improving Hyderabad's connectivity to global markets through Dubai's extensive international network.
GMR Hyderabad International Airport has commenced operations for Emirates SkyCargo's dedicated Boeing 777 Freighter service on the Taipei–Hyderabad–Dubai route, further strengthening the airport's role as one of India's leading air cargo gateways. The new service is expected to improve trade connectivity between East Asia, India and the Middle East while supporting the growing demand for international cargo movement.
The Boeing 777 Freighter, which has a payload capacity of more than 100 tonnes and is designed for long-haul operations, is expected to increase cargo volumes on the Taipei–Hyderabad–Dubai corridor. The service will facilitate the transportation of high-value and time-sensitive shipments, including pharmaceuticals, life sciences products, electronics, semiconductors, perishables and express cargo.
Kadhir Kadhiravan, Chief Executive Officer of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, said the launch of Emirates SkyCargo's dedicated freighter service marks an important step in the airport's cargo expansion plans. He noted that as global supply chains continue to evolve, strong cargo infrastructure and international connectivity have become increasingly important for economic growth. He added that the new service is expected to support the transportation of servers and other high-value technology equipment.
He further said the route strengthens connectivity between major technology and manufacturing centres, offering a reliable and time-sensitive logistics solution for critical digital infrastructure cargo. According to him, this will further strengthen Hyderabad's position as a preferred gateway for technology-driven supply chains.
Kadhiravan also said the airport has continued investing in advanced cargo infrastructure, digital capabilities and specialised handling facilities to meet the changing needs of global trade. He added that the addition of this strategic cargo corridor further strengthens Hyderabad Airport's cargo ecosystem and supports its long-term objective of becoming one of the region's leading logistics and cargo hubs.
Sanjiv Edward, Chief Executive Officer of GMR Aero Cargo & Logistics, said the addition of Emirates SkyCargo's freighter service strengthens a strategic trade corridor connecting important international markets. He added that the new service further enhances the overall value of Hyderabad Airport's cargo ecosystem.
According to GMR, the corridor creates direct connectivity between Taipei's electronics and semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and Hyderabad's well-established pharmaceutical, life sciences and emerging technology industries. Dubai will serve as the onward global gateway, providing access to more than 145 international destinations through Emirates SkyCargo's network.
Hyderabad Airport has steadily expanded its cargo operations over the past few years by strengthening cold-chain facilities, pharmaceutical handling infrastructure and digital cargo processes. The airport has emerged as one of India's major pharma export hubs and handles significant volumes of temperature-sensitive cargo. The addition of Emirates SkyCargo's dedicated freighter service is expected to complement these capabilities while supporting growing trade between Asia, the Middle East and other international markets.
