Air India has entered into a codeshare partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines, allowing passengers to book seamless travel between India and Azerbaijan on a single itinerary. Under the arrangement, Air India's flight code will be placed on Azerbaijan Airlines' daily services connecting Delhi and Mumbai with Baku. The partnership is expected to offer passengers greater flexibility, smoother connections and simplified ticketing. The agreement also strengthens Air India's international network expansion strategy, which has seen the airline continue to widen its global reach through codeshare and interline partnerships.
Air India has announced a new codeshare partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines to provide passengers with more travel options while strengthening air connectivity between India and Azerbaijan.
Under the agreement, Air India's 'AI' flight code will be placed on Azerbaijan Airlines' daily flights operating between Delhi and Baku, as well as Mumbai and Baku. This will allow passengers travelling from Delhi, Mumbai and other Indian cities to book their journey on a single Air India ticket while flying on services operated by Azerbaijan Airlines.
The airline said the arrangement enables customers to travel to Baku with an Air India flight number while benefiting from a seamless booking and travel experience.
A codeshare partnership allows two airlines to market seats on each other's flights, enabling passengers to travel on a single itinerary even when different airlines operate different sectors of the journey. Such agreements generally offer easier ticketing, coordinated baggage handling and smoother flight connections.
The latest partnership forms part of Air India's broader efforts to expand its international network through strategic collaborations. Following its integration into the Tata Group, the airline has been increasing its global connectivity by strengthening partnerships alongside fleet expansion and network growth.
At present, Air India has 26 codeshare partnerships and more than 120 interline agreements with airlines across the world, helping passengers access a wider range of destinations beyond its own direct flight network.
