Wildberries is moving ahead with the construction of 260,000 square metres of warehouse space in Kazakhstan as part of its long-term regional expansion strategy. Kazakhstan's trade minister said the new logistics facilities are expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2027. The expansion comes at a time when several of the company's warehouses in Russia have been affected by repeated Ukrainian drone attacks, disrupting its logistics network. The new facilities are expected to strengthen Wildberries' distribution capacity in Central Asia while supporting its growing cross-border e-commerce operations.
Russian online retailer Wildberries is constructing 260,000 square metres of warehouse space in Kazakhstan as part of its long-term expansion plans in the Central Asian market. Kazakhstan's Trade and Integration Minister Arman Shakkaliyev said the new logistics facilities are scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2027.
The minister stated that the warehouse developments form part of Wildberries' broader investment strategy in Kazakhstan. According to available information, the projects include around 160,000 square metres of warehouse space in Almaty and another 100,000 square metres in Astana, which together will improve the company's storage and distribution capabilities across the country.
The expansion is taking place as Wildberries continues to face disruptions to its logistics operations in Russia. The company's warehouse network has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks in recent weeks. Two more Wildberries logistics facilities were reportedly hit overnight, adding to a series of attacks that have affected the retailer's distribution infrastructure.
The attacks have prompted Wildberries to strengthen its logistics network outside Russia. Reports over the past week indicated that the company had been exploring additional warehouse capacity in Kazakhstan to reduce operational risks and ensure continuity of deliveries across its regional markets. Kazakhstan is already one of Wildberries' established international markets, making it a strategic location for expanding its logistics footprint.
Wildberries is one of Russia's largest e-commerce companies and has steadily expanded its presence across several neighbouring countries, including Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The company has been investing in logistics infrastructure to support growing online retail demand and faster deliveries across these markets.
