The Himachal Pradesh government has submitted proposals worth INR 234 crore to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for the development of two plug-and-play industrial parks under the Central government's Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA). The proposed projects include a 150-acre industrial park in Solan district and a 75-acre park in Una district, with a combined estimated investment of INR 234 crore. If approved, the projects will be implemented jointly by the state government and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC). The initiative aims to strengthen industrial infrastructure, improve ease of doing business, attract investments and support employment generation across the state.
The Himachal Pradesh government has submitted proposals to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) seeking approval for two plug-and-play industrial parks with a combined estimated investment of INR 234 crore under the Central government's Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA). The proposed developments, located in Solan and Una districts, are intended to strengthen the state's industrial ecosystem, improve ease of doing business and support employment generation through investment-ready infrastructure.
According to an official statement, the first proposal involves the development of a 150-acre plug-and-play industrial park in the Majholi Industrial Area of Solan district at an estimated cost of INR 154 crore. The second proposal relates to a 75-acre industrial park in the Beetan Industrial Area of Una district, with an estimated project cost of INR 80 crore.
The proposed industrial park at Beetan has been planned in close proximity to the upcoming Bulk Drug Park at Haroli in Una district. The state government expects the project to function as a supporting industrial ecosystem for the Bulk Drug Park by providing ready-to-use infrastructure for industries and related businesses.
The Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA) has been introduced by the Central government to develop investment-ready industrial parks equipped with modern infrastructure and integrated facilities. The scheme focuses on creating industrial ecosystems with multimodal connectivity, reliable utility services, digital governance systems, sustainability features and worker-support amenities through a competitive, challenge-based selection process.
Under the scheme, approved projects are eligible for Central financial assistance of INR 1 crore per acre. The DPIIT had invited applications for the first phase of 20 industrial parks under BHAVYA, with submissions required by the end of July. Once sanctioned, the selected projects will be implemented jointly by the Himachal Pradesh government and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC).
Harshwardhan Chauhan, Himachal Pradesh's Industries Minister, said the state government remained committed to developing robust industrial infrastructure capable of supporting sustainable economic growth, attracting quality investments and creating employment opportunities for young people across the state.
M Sudha, Principal Secretary (Industries), said the Department of Industries was also identifying additional land parcels across Himachal Pradesh for the development of more industrial areas featuring modern plug-and-play infrastructure. The exercise is aimed at expanding the state's industrial base and creating additional investment-ready locations to support future manufacturing and industrial growth.
