Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, the world's largest hotel franchising company, signed 11 new hotels across India during the six months to June 2026. The expansion was attributed to growing owner confidence and the long-term potential of India's hospitality sector, supported by rising travel and tourism activity, expanding middle-class mobility, and steady domestic demand. The period also saw the opening of Ramada Encore by Wyndham in Ayodhya, extending the group's presence in pilgrimage destinations, alongside a new property in Nepal. Wyndham now has more than 150 hotels operating and under development across India.
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, described as the world's largest hotel franchising firm, signed 11 hotels across India during the first half of 2026, in the six months to June, the company said, citing growing owner confidence in its brands and the long-term prospects of the country's hospitality sector.
The company attributed the momentum to a rapidly expanding travel and tourism sector, growing mobility among India's middle class, and resilient domestic demand, all of which it said continued to make India an attractive long-term market for hospitality investment.
During the period under review, Wyndham extended its presence in pilgrimage destinations with the opening of Ramada Encore by Wyndham in Ayodhya. The company also opened a new property in Nepal, Ramada by Wyndham Itahari Pashupati Marg, marking a further addition to its South Asian portfolio outside India.
The company said India continued to rank among its fastest-growing markets globally, reinforcing the country's position as one of Wyndham's largest development markets worldwide. With the latest signings, Wyndham now has more than 150 hotels either operating or under development across India, the company stated.
It noted that the development momentum during the half-year was reflected in the pace of new hotel signings, which it said pointed to rising confidence among hotel owners in partnering with Wyndham's brands, as well as the sector's broader long-term potential in the country.
Rahool Macarius, Market Managing Director, Eurasia, at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said that a majority of the company's recent signings in India had come from ownership groups that were new to Wyndham. He said this underscored the strength of the company's owner-first approach and the growing appeal of its brands across the country.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts operates more than 9,300 hotels across nearly 95 countries globally, according to the company. Its India portfolio spans multiple brands and continues to grow through both new signings and openings, with pilgrimage and religious tourism destinations emerging as an area of continued expansion alongside the company's broader development activity in the country.
The company's statement did not specify the individual brands or locations involved in the 11 new signings, nor did it provide a break-up of the properties by city or region within India.
