Swedish construction company Skanska has secured a contract worth about USD 1.2 billion to build four data centres in the southeastern United States for an existing client. The facilities will have a combined area of around 75,000 square metres, or 808,000 square feet. Skanska’s work will cover the building shells and interior fit-outs for technical spaces, support areas and offices. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2028. The company has not disclosed the exact locations or the identity of the client.

Swedish construction company Skanska has signed a contract worth about USD 1.2 billion with an existing client to construct four new data centres in the southeastern United States. The contract, valued at around SEK 11.2 billion, will be included in Skanska’s US order bookings for the third quarter of 2026.
The four data centres will have a combined area of approximately 75,000 square metres, equivalent to about 808,000 square feet. Skanska’s scope includes construction of the building shells and interior fit-outs for technical spaces, support areas and office functions.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2028. Skanska has not disclosed the specific locations of the facilities or named the client.
The latest contract adds to Skanska’s recent data centre work in the US. Last week, the company announced a separate USD 238 million contract for an additional data centre in Virginia. That project covers a 22,000-square-metre facility with five data halls and is the second building on the client’s campus.
Skanska has also secured other US data centre contracts this year, including a USD 191 million project announced in March for an unnamed existing client. That facility is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2027.
The latest award further expands Skanska’s construction activity in the US data centre segment, with the company continuing to secure projects from existing clients. The new four-facility development will add about 808,000 square feet of data centre space once completed.
