The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has started a series of village-level meetings as part of the preparation of Village Circulation Plans and Village Integration Plans under the Amaravati Master Plan. Meetings were held at Venkatapalem and Krishnayapalem to explain the proposed road network, its integration with existing village roads and future infrastructure requirements. Officials also sought feedback from residents and are conducting surveys to map existing roads and connectivity. The exercise is aimed at incorporating local requirements into village-level planning as Amaravati’s wider infrastructure development progresses.
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) conducted village meetings at Venkatapalem and Krishnayapalem as part of the ongoing preparation of Village Circulation Plans and Village Integration Plans under the Amaravati Master Plan.
The meetings, held on Wednesday, were organised in the North-East Grid at Venkatapalem and the East Grid at Krishnayapalem. The main objective was to explain the Amaravati Master Plan and proposed village road network to residents and seek their suggestions before the village-level plans are finalised.
Officials explained the proposed integration of existing village roads with the planned road network, taking into account the different Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) zones. They also discussed the process of planning village roads and the need to provide infrastructure that can meet future requirements.
The presentations were made by Venkatapalem Special Deputy Collector A.G. Chinnikrishna, Krishnayapalem Special Deputy Collector K. Sudharani, Planning Department officials A. Ajay Kumar and Ch. Madhusudhana Rao, along with other officials involved in the planning process.
As part of the exercise, APCRDA is carrying out a Village Road Circulation Pattern Survey and an LPS Road Network Survey. These surveys are being used to collect details of existing roads, their connectivity and the road network within the villages. The information will form the basis for preparing the village road plans and identifying infrastructure requirements.
Residents attending the meetings put forward their suggestions and feedback on the proposed plans. APCRDA officials said these inputs would be considered while preparing the Village Circulation Plans and Village Integration Plans for the respective villages.
The village-level planning is also linked to APCRDA's broader work on Amaravati's planned infrastructure. The authority's master planning framework includes provisions for village integration, road connectivity and upgrading village infrastructure. APCRDA's existing planning documents also provide for integrating existing villages with the wider capital city development rather than treating them as separate settlements.
Road and infrastructure development in these areas is already part of APCRDA's ongoing project pipeline. A government order issued earlier this year authorised work covering roads, drains, water supply, sewerage, utility ducts for power and ICT, reuse water lines, sewage treatment plants and avenue plantation in layouts covering Krishnayapalem, Venkatapalem, Penumaka and Undavalli, among other areas.
The road planning exercise comes as APCRDA continues to work on the wider redevelopment of Amaravati. The authority has also been advancing the second phase of its Land Pooling Scheme in other villages of the capital region, with field surveys and interactions with landowners forming part of that process.
APCRDA is conducting the village meetings in phases across the villages covered by the capital region plan. Special Deputy Collectors and officials from the Planning, Development Promotion, Social Development and other departments are participating in the meetings. Technical experts from The Urbanizer are also involved in the discussions and are interacting directly with residents.
The authority has asked residents in villages within the Amaravati capital city area to participate in the meetings in their respective villages and provide suggestions on the Master Plan, village roads and related infrastructure requirements.
The next meeting was scheduled at Penumaka in the East Grid on Thursday afternoon. Since that meeting date has now passed, the exercise is expected to continue through the phased village-level consultation process.
