Drivn signs agreement with AVG Logistics to deploy 100 electric trucks

Synopsis

EV leasing platform Drivn has entered into an agreement with AVG Logistics to deploy 100 electric trucks across India. The vehicles will be used for AVG Logistics’ different freight and business requirements, while the specific routes and corridors will be finalised later. The partnership brings together AVG Logistics’ logistics operations and Drivn’s financing and leasing model for commercial electric vehicles. The agreement comes as logistics companies increasingly look at alternatives to conventional diesel fleets, while financing, vehicle costs, battery performance and charging infrastructure remain key considerations in the shift towards electric heavy-duty transport.

EV leasing platform Drivn has signed an agreement with AVG Logistics to deploy 100 electric trucks across India as the logistics company expands its use of electric and alternative-fuel vehicles.
The trucks will be deployed to support AVG Logistics’ operations across different business requirements. The company said the specific routes and freight corridors for the electric trucks will be announced at a later stage.
The agreement is focused on bringing electric heavy-duty trucks into commercial fleet operations through a leasing and financing model. For logistics operators, this approach can reduce the need for a large upfront investment in electric vehicles while allowing them to introduce EVs into their existing fleets.
Alpna Jain, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer, Drivn, said the next phase of electric freight would depend not only on the availability of electric trucks but also on how effectively they can be integrated into commercial fleets at scale.
The partnership also points to growing interest among established logistics operators in leasing and financing solutions for fleet electrification. Heavy commercial EVs generally involve higher initial vehicle costs than conventional diesel trucks, while battery performance, residual value and charging requirements continue to influence fleet investment decisions.
Drivn operates an asset-owning and leasing model for electric commercial vehicles, including medium- and heavy-duty trucks and intercity buses. The company says its model includes long-term leases, flexible payment structures and support across vehicle deployment, financing and lifecycle management. Its platform also tracks vehicle and battery parameters to support fleet operations.
The company has been expanding its commercial EV partnerships. Earlier this year, Drivn signed an MoU with Energy in Motion for the deployment of around 1,000 electric heavy-duty trucks across India over two years. That arrangement brought together electric truck supply, battery-swapping and energy infrastructure with Drivn’s leasing and financing capabilities.
Drivn had also received an initial USD 80 million investment commitment from Nomura to support the deployment of electric buses and trucks in India. The company has been positioning leasing as a way to address the high upfront cost and financing challenges associated with larger commercial EVs.
AVG Logistics has already been adding electric and LNG vehicles to its fleet. Its latest annual report said its fleet had crossed 3,000 vehicles, including market-hire vehicles, with 137 vehicles added during the financial year. The additions included LNG and electric trucks. The company has also been expanding its warehousing and branch network as part of its wider logistics operations.
AVG has been working on electric freight operations for some time. Its company disclosures state that it introduced India’s first 20-foot electric truck in collaboration with a client during FY2024-25. The company has also described its green logistics operations as including electric and LNG-powered vehicles.
The logistics company has also developed charging infrastructure for its electric fleet. AVG says its first EV charging station became operational at Ballabgarh in Faridabad, with a 500 kVA power supply and 240 kVA DC chargers, with provision to expand to 10 charging points. It has also stated plans to expand its green transportation infrastructure across different regions of India.
Vinayak Gupta, Chief Strategy Officer and ESG Head, AVG Logistics, said the agreement with Drivn reflected the company’s focus on adopting solutions that could support more efficient and sustainable freight operations at scale.
Gupta added that combining AVG Logistics’ operational experience with Drivn’s EV financing and leasing expertise would help create a scalable way to bring electric trucks into its fleet while maintaining reliability and efficiency.
The 100-truck agreement therefore adds to AVG Logistics’ existing electric fleet initiatives while giving Drivn another commercial logistics deployment opportunity. The actual performance of the vehicles on selected routes, along with charging access, operating costs and fleet utilisation, will be important factors as the companies expand the use of electric heavy-duty trucks.
