Hinduja Group plans to invest INR 2,500 crore across its businesses in Tamil Nadu, with the proposed investments spanning renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive, financial services, energy, battery charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions. A major part of the commitment will involve developing more than 200 MW of renewable energy projects through Hinduja Renewables Energy Pvt Ltd, covering solar, wind and battery technologies. In the mobility segment, OHM Global Mobility Ltd will operationalise electric buses for public transport in the state and expand its mobility solutions value chain. The group said it would also examine opportunities across its other business areas as part of the investment plan. Its existing Tamil Nadu presence includes Ashok Leyland, Gulf Oil India, Hinduja Leyland Finance, Hinduja Housing Finance, Switch Mobility, Ohm Mobility, Gro Digital and Hinduja Tech.

Hinduja Group plans to invest INR 2,500 crore across its businesses in Tamil Nadu, with the proposed investment covering renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive, financial services, energy, battery charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions, the group said on Thursday.
A key component of the investment commitment will be the development of more than 200 MW of renewable energy projects in the state through Hinduja Renewables Energy Pvt Ltd (HREPL). The projects will span solar, wind and battery technologies, according to a group statement.
The renewable energy investment forms part of the wider commitment covering multiple businesses of the Hinduja Group. The group said its proposed investments would extend beyond clean energy into mobility, automotive and financial services, while also covering supporting infrastructure and digital solutions.
In the electric mobility segment, OHM Global Mobility Ltd will operationalise electric buses for public transport in Tamil Nadu. The company will also expand its mobility solutions value chain in the state as part of the group’s broader investment plans.
The group said it would further explore opportunities in automotive, financial services, energy, battery charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions. The statement did not provide a project-wise financial allocation for the INR 2,500 crore commitment or specify an overall investment timeline.
Ashok Hinduja, chairman of Hinduja Group of Companies (India), said the commitment reflected the group’s confidence in Tamil Nadu and its intention to participate in the state’s next phase of growth. He cited Tamil Nadu’s industrial base, talent availability and renewable energy potential as factors supporting its role in India’s transition towards cleaner energy and mobility.
The group also said it intended to build on its long-standing association with Tamil Nadu and work with the state government on investments in clean energy, electric mobility and other emerging areas.
Hinduja Group already has a presence in Tamil Nadu through several of its businesses. These include commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland, Gulf Oil India, Hinduja Leyland Finance, Hinduja Housing Finance, Switch Mobility, Ohm Mobility, Gro Digital and Hinduja Tech, among others.
The planned investment therefore spans both existing business areas and emerging segments, particularly renewable energy and electric mobility. HREPL’s proposed projects will combine solar and wind generation with battery technologies, while OHM Global Mobility’s electric bus operations will focus on public transport in the state.
The group has not disclosed the locations of the proposed renewable energy projects or the number of electric buses planned under the commitment. Details of the investment allocation across automotive, financial services, energy, charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions are also yet to be provided.
The INR 2,500 crore commitment adds to Hinduja Group’s existing business presence in Tamil Nadu and covers investments across energy, transport, finance and technology-linked activities. The group said its plans would include both project development and exploration of additional opportunities across these sectors.
