Star Air will commence direct flights between Ahmedabad and Mundra in Kutch from August 17, 2026, establishing an air connection between Gujarat’s commercial centre and its major port-led industrial hub. The service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with morning departures from Ahmedabad and evening return flights from Mundra. The route is expected to improve accessibility for businesses, professionals and travellers moving between the two locations, where travel has traditionally involved long road journeys or indirect flight options. Mundra’s role as a major private port and logistics centre has supported industrial and export activity across the region, while Ahmedabad remains an important commercial, financial, educational and business hub. The new service could therefore support movement linked to Gujarat’s expanding industrial and logistics economy.
Star Air, the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, will launch direct flights between Ahmedabad and Mundra in Kutch from August 17, 2026, establishing a new air connection between Gujarat’s commercial centre and its major port and logistics hub.
The service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Flights from Ahmedabad to Mundra will depart at 6:40 am and arrive at 7:30 am, while the return service will leave Mundra at 6:40 pm and reach Ahmedabad at 7:30 pm.
The new route is intended to improve connectivity between two locations that play significant roles in Gujarat’s economy. Ahmedabad is an established commercial and business centre with activity across industry, finance, education and technology. The city also has a growing start-up ecosystem and established urban infrastructure.
Mundra, meanwhile, has developed from a coastal settlement into a major port-led industrial and logistics centre. Its port handles a substantial volume of international cargo and has supported industrial development, investment and employment in Kutch and surrounding regions.
The expansion of port-related activity has increased the importance of connectivity between Mundra and major commercial centres. Star Air said the direct service would provide businesses and travellers with an alternative to lengthy road journeys and indirect flight connections.
Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, Star Air, said the Ahmedabad-Mundra service would establish a direct link between two important economic centres and make travel faster and more convenient for businesses, entrepreneurs and communities.
The schedule has been structured to cater to both business and leisure travellers, with an early morning departure from Ahmedabad and an evening return from Mundra. This timing is intended to provide greater flexibility for professionals travelling between the two locations during the day.
The new air link could also support Gujarat’s wider industrial and logistics network by improving access to the port city. Faster movement between Ahmedabad and Mundra could benefit businesses with operations, employees or commercial relationships across the two markets, particularly those associated with manufacturing, logistics, exports and port-led industries.
The route also adds another layer to Gujarat’s regional connectivity as economic activity continues to spread beyond its established urban centres. For Mundra, improved access to Ahmedabad could complement its existing road and logistics infrastructure, while Ahmedabad could benefit from more direct connectivity with a major industrial and export gateway.
The Ahmedabad-Mundra service will operate under flight numbers S5 628 and S5 629. The service is scheduled to begin on August 17 and will operate every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
