Synopsis

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has launched Melodies by The Leela, a sonic identity created as part of the hospitality brand’s celebration of four decades of True Indian Luxury. The platform debuts with A Living Raga, a 14-track album composed exclusively for The Leela by Grammy-winning sarod musicians Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash. The album received its first listening at The Leela Palace New Delhi on August 7, with the gathering featuring Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and other guests. The initiative builds on more than 15 years of musical collaborations between The Leela and the Bangash brothers. The brand said the platform will develop through original compositions, destination-inspired collections and collaborations with artists, extending its cultural and sensory programming beyond its hotels’ physical spaces.

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has introduced Melodies by The Leela, a new sonic identity and cultural platform marking the hospitality brand’s 40th anniversary of True Indian Luxury, with its first musical release, A Living Raga, unveiled in New Delhi earlier this month.
The inaugural album comprises 14 original tracks composed exclusively for The Leela by Grammy-winning, seventh-generation sarod musicians Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash. The compositions draw on Indian classical traditions and the philosophy of Atithi Devo Bhava, while presenting them through a contemporary musical interpretation.
A Living Raga was first presented at The Leela Palace New Delhi on August 7. The listening event was attended by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Subhalakshmi Khan, Vijay Amritraj, Falguni Shane Peacock, Amitabh Kant, Suresh and Priyanka Raina and Shereen Bhan, among other guests.
The album was produced in collaboration with creative partners Karsh Kale and Sawan Dutta and features musicians including Rajesh Prasanna on flute, Ahaana Ali on sarangi, Gopal Dayal on shehnai and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
Anuraag Bhatnagar, CEO and Whole-time Director of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, said the brand had expressed India's cultural heritage through architecture, design, art, cuisine and hospitality for four decades. He said music had also been part of the guest experience and that Melodies by The Leela brings together years of original musical collaborations under a distinctive sonic identity.
Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash said their association with The Leela had extended for more than 15 years and had been based on a shared belief in experiencing culture through emotion. They said the album brought together their longstanding collaboration with the brand while drawing on India's musical traditions.
The launch event also featured a commemorative menu marking four decades of The Leela. The menu traced the brand's history through regional culinary expressions associated with its destinations and heritage, including Malvani flavours representing its first chapter in Mumbai and interpretations of Karnataka and other regional cuisines.
Music has been part of The Leela's hospitality experience for more than 15 years. Through its collaborations with Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, the brand has commissioned original compositions for hotel arrivals, public spaces and other guest experiences. The new Melodies platform brings these musical initiatives together and is intended to support future original compositions, destination-inspired collections and artist collaborations.
The Leela has also released a limited-edition collector's vinyl of A Living Raga. The physical edition features bespoke artwork and a tactile production intended as a collectible interpretation of the brand's approach to Indian luxury and craftsmanship.
Following its first listening in New Delhi, A Living Raga is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music and The Leela's website.
The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, backed by Brookfield, operates 15 properties across India and Dubai and has another 10 properties in its pipeline. The portfolio includes owned, operated and managed hotels across leisure and business destinations. The brand has received international recognition through the Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards, including a second-place ranking globally among hotel brands in 2026.
