Piramal Realty has delivered the Royal Polo Pavilion, a 30,000 sq. ft. residents’ clubhouse at its Piramal Mahalaxmi development in Mumbai. Designed by British design studio Conran and Partners, the three-level clubhouse overlooks the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and the Arabian Sea. Its design draws on the history of polo associated with the racecourse and incorporates equestrian references, natural materials and artworks developed with the Piramal Art Foundation. The clubhouse includes a gym, private theatre, residents’ lounge, banquet hall, spa, yoga studio, indoor games room, squash court, multipurpose court and children’s play area. Piramal Realty said the delivery forms part of its development portfolio, which includes more than 5,800 homes delivered across 24 towers covering approximately 9.3 million sq. ft. of area.
Piramal Realty, the real estate development arm of the Piramal Group, has delivered the Royal Polo Pavilion, a 30,000 sq. ft. residents’ clubhouse at Piramal Mahalaxmi in Mumbai, the company said on Tuesday.
The three-level clubhouse has been designed by British design studio Conran and Partners and overlooks the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and the Arabian Sea. The facility has been conceived around the history and character of the Mahalaxmi neighbourhood, with the area's association with polo serving as a central theme for its design.
Polo has been closely associated with the Mahalaxmi Racecourse over several decades. Piramal Realty said the sport's traditions of discipline, teamwork, precision and sportsmanship informed the design approach for the clubhouse.
The clubhouse includes a range of recreational and community facilities. These comprise a gym, private theatre, residents’ lounge, banquet hall, spa, yoga studio, indoor games room, squash court, multipurpose court and a children's play area.
Several spaces have been named using references to polo. The gym has been named The Chukker, referring to the periods of play in a polo match, while the children's play area is called the Colt & Filly Club.
Abhijeet Maheshwari, CEO of Piramal Realty, said the design of the clubhouse was intended to reflect the neighbourhood rather than follow global design trends. He said elements including the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, the heritage of polo, the gulmohar tree motif associated with South Mumbai and artworks commissioned in collaboration with the Piramal Art Foundation had been incorporated into the design.
The interiors use warm timber, natural stone and handcrafted textiles, alongside subtle equestrian references. Artworks developed with the Piramal Art Foundation form part of the overall design scheme, with the material and visual palette intended to reflect the traditions associated with polo.
The delivery of the Royal Polo Pavilion adds to Piramal Realty's development and delivery portfolio in Mumbai. The company said it has delivered more than 5,800 homes across 24 towers covering approximately 9.3 million sq. ft. of area.
