Laser Power & Infra Ltd has secured an INR 4.15 crore order from Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited to supply and install advanced high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) conductors in the Nalagarh Electrical Division. The project will replace conventional conductors while retaining the existing transmission tower infrastructure, helping improve power transmission capacity and reliability. The contract also marks the company's first commercial deployment of advanced conductor technology under its manufacturing partnership with US-based TS Conductor Corp, representing a key milestone in its technology expansion plans.
Kolkata-based Laser Power & Infra Ltd has secured an INR 4.15 crore order from Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) for the supply and installation of advanced conductors as part of a transmission network upgrade in Himachal Pradesh.
The turnkey reconductoring project will be carried out in the Nalagarh Electrical Division, where conventional conductors will be replaced with advanced high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) conductors. The new conductors are designed to increase electricity transmission capacity while making use of the existing transmission tower infrastructure, eliminating the need for large-scale structural modifications.
According to the company, the project is expected to strengthen the reliability of power supply in the region by improving the performance and efficiency of the transmission network. HTLS conductor technology enables utilities to carry higher electrical loads with reduced sag compared to conventional conductors, making it suitable for upgrading existing transmission lines without acquiring additional land or constructing new towers.
The company stated that the INR 4.15 crore contract marks its first commercial deployment of advanced conductor technology under its manufacturing agreement with TS Conductor Corp of the United States. The partnership was announced to introduce globally developed advanced conductor solutions to the Indian power transmission market through local manufacturing and deployment.
Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Goel said the order marked the successful commercialisation of the company's technology partnership with TS Conductor. He added that the contract validated Laser Power & Infra's strategy of bringing globally proven advanced conductor solutions to India's power sector.
The order comes at a time when power utilities across India are increasingly upgrading ageing transmission infrastructure to accommodate rising electricity demand and the growing integration of renewable energy into the grid. Reconductoring existing transmission lines with advanced conductors has emerged as a cost-effective alternative to building new transmission corridors, as it improves carrying capacity while reducing project timelines and minimising land acquisition requirements.
