Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around INR 14,700 crore in Haryana, covering roads, railways, healthcare and cultural infrastructure. The initiatives include key highway projects, an elevated railway track, new government medical institutions and the launch of India's first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat. The projects are aimed at improving regional connectivity, strengthening public infrastructure, promoting sustainable transport and supporting economic development across the state.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth around INR 14,700 crore in Haryana, with investments spanning highways, railway infrastructure, healthcare and cultural facilities. The projects are aimed at improving regional connectivity, enhancing public infrastructure and supporting economic development across the state.
Among the major infrastructure initiatives, the Prime Minister dedicated the 157.92-km Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway section to the nation. Developed at a cost of around INR 9,680 crore, the access-controlled corridor forms part of the larger 667-km Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway. Once fully operational, the expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time, ease congestion on existing highway corridors and improve connectivity for both passenger and freight movement across northern India.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the 24.27-km Hansi–Barwala Brownfield Highway Project, which will upgrade the existing road into a two/four-lane corridor with paved shoulders. The project is expected to improve road safety, enhance traffic flow and strengthen connectivity between key towns in Haryana.
In addition, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the elevated railway track at Kurukshetra, an urban infrastructure project designed to eliminate railway level crossings, reduce traffic congestion and improve the movement of vehicles within the city.
To strengthen healthcare infrastructure, the Prime Minister dedicated several medical institutions to the nation, including Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani, Maharishi Chyawan Medical College and Rao Tula Ram Hospital in Narnaul. These facilities are expected to expand medical education, increase the availability of healthcare professionals and improve access to specialised medical services across the region.
As part of the visit, Shri Narendra Modi also laid the foundation stone for a Sikh Museum at Kurukshetra. The proposed museum will showcase the history of Sikhism, the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and the contributions of the Sikh community to India's cultural and historical heritage.
Earlier during the programme, the Prime Minister flagged off India's first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat. Developed using indigenous technology, the train represents a step towards cleaner railway transportation and supports the country's efforts to promote sustainable and low-emission mobility.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Narendra Modi said the projects would strengthen transport connectivity, improve healthcare access and support Haryana's long-term economic growth. He added that the infrastructure investments form part of the Centre's broader efforts to enhance logistics, public infrastructure and sustainable mobility across the country.
