Flipkart has announced plans to further expand its long-term investments in West Bengal by strengthening its supply chain infrastructure, seller ecosystem and skill development initiatives. The Walmart-owned e-commerce company said the state, which houses its largest fulfilment centre in India at Haringhata, will remain a key part of its growth strategy. The company currently operates more than 300 logistics facilities across West Bengal, supports over 120,000 jobs, and has expanded Flipkart Minutes with 90 micro fulfilment centres. It also continues to support MSMEs, artisans, weavers and farmers through its digital marketplace.
Flipkart has announced plans to deepen its long-term investments in West Bengal by expanding its supply chain infrastructure, strengthening its seller ecosystem and scaling up skill development initiatives across the state. The Walmart-owned e-commerce company said West Bengal, which houses its largest fulfilment centre in India, will continue to play an important role in its long-term growth plans.
The company's largest fulfilment and logistics hub is located at Haringhata in Nadia district. The facility has a storage capacity of 5 million cubic feet spread across six mezzanine levels. It is equipped with automated storage and retrieval systems, robotic packaging arms, cross-belt sorters and a nine-kilometre conveyor network, enabling faster order processing and improved operational efficiency. The Haringhata facility is also the first e-commerce fulfilment centre of its scale in India to receive the Indian Green Building Council's Platinum certification, reflecting Flipkart's focus on sustainable logistics infrastructure.
Across West Bengal, Flipkart operates more than 300 fulfilment centres, mother hubs and last-mile delivery facilities. According to the company, this network supports over 120,000 direct and indirect jobs across operations, technology, delivery and support functions. The company also generates thousands of additional seasonal employment opportunities during its annual Big Billion Days sale, when order volumes increase significantly.
Flipkart has also expanded its quick commerce business, Flipkart Minutes, in West Bengal through a network of 90 micro fulfilment centres. The company said this expansion has created nearly 10,000 employment opportunities in the state. Its sourcing network in West Bengal also includes more than 500 farmers who supply fresh fruits and vegetables through the platform.
Commenting on the development, Flipkart Group Chief Executive Officer Kalyan Krishnamurthy said West Bengal has traditionally been one of India's major centres of enterprise, innovation and craftsmanship and is now emerging as an important hub for digital commerce. He said the company's continued investments in infrastructure, technology and supply chains are helping create jobs, support MSMEs, empower farmers and enable entrepreneurs to reach customers across India. He added that, as the home of Flipkart's largest fulfilment centre, West Bengal would continue to remain central to the company's long-term growth strategy.
The company also highlighted the growing participation of businesses from the state on its marketplace. More than 66,000 sellers from West Bengal currently use Flipkart's platform to sell products across the country. In addition, nearly 29,000 products created by the state's weavers and artisans are listed under the Flipkart Samarth programme, which supports traditional crafts, local businesses and underserved communities.
Flipkart said Shantipur has emerged as one of the success stories under the initiative, with more than 250 Tant and Jamdani weavers and sellers collectively generating annual sales exceeding INR 100 crore through the platform. The company said such initiatives have helped traditional artisans connect with customers across India while expanding their market reach beyond local and regional boundaries.
Flipkart has continued to invest in logistics and supply chain infrastructure over the past few years as e-commerce demand and quick commerce services have grown across the country. The company has also been expanding Flipkart Minutes in several cities to strengthen its presence in the fast-growing instant delivery segment.
