The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has urged property owners to pay their house tax before the rebate deadline to avail a 5 per cent concession. The civic body clarified that the rebate applies to both online and offline payments and will not be extended further. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar appealed to residents to clear their dues within the stipulated period, stating that timely tax collection will strengthen the corporation's finances and support faster execution of civic infrastructure and public service projects across the city.
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has asked property owners to pay their house tax within the prescribed deadline to avail a 5 per cent rebate, making it clear that the concession will not be extended further. The rebate is available for both online and offline payments and has been approved by the corporation's executive committee.
The civic body said the deadline marks the final opportunity for taxpayers to claim the rebate on house tax payments. Officials have advised residents not to delay payments, as the concession will automatically lapse once the notified period ends.
Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar appealed to citizens to make use of the rebate by clearing their property tax dues within the stipulated time. He said timely payment not only benefits taxpayers through lower tax liability but also strengthens the municipal corporation's financial position, enabling it to undertake development works and improve civic services across Lucknow.
Property tax is one of the primary sources of revenue for urban local bodies and is used to fund essential municipal services such as road maintenance, sanitation, drainage, street lighting, waste management and public infrastructure. Civic officials have been encouraging residents to pay taxes on time to improve revenue collection and reduce outstanding dues.
The rebate is part of LMC's efforts to encourage voluntary tax compliance while ensuring a steady flow of revenue for infrastructure development. The corporation has been focusing on improving tax collection through digital payment options and awareness campaigns, making it easier for property owners to pay their dues without visiting municipal offices.
In recent months, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has also undertaken several initiatives to strengthen civic administration and revenue generation, including measures to improve environmental monitoring, expand waste management infrastructure and enhance urban services. Improved property tax collection is expected to support these initiatives by providing additional financial resources for ongoing and future projects.
