Marvell Technology has announced plans to invest USD 250 million (around INR 2,400 crore) in India over the next three years as part of its strategy to strengthen technology development, talent and infrastructure. The investment comes as the semiconductor company marks 20 years of operations in the country. Along with expanding its research and development capabilities, Marvell plans to double its workforce, open a new wing at its Bengaluru office and increase its presence in Hyderabad. The move also aligns with India's growing role as a global semiconductor and engineering hub.
Marvell Technology has announced that it will invest USD 250 million (around INR 2,400 crore) in India over the next three years to expand its capabilities across technology, talent and infrastructure. The investment comes as the semiconductor company completes 20 years of operations in the country and continues to strengthen its engineering and research presence.
The company said the planned investment will support the expansion of its research and development ecosystem, with a focus on semiconductor technologies used in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and data infrastructure. As part of the expansion, Marvell will double its workforce over the next three years, open a new wing at its Bengaluru office and further increase its presence in Hyderabad.
According to the company, the expanded facilities and workforce will strengthen Marvell's global innovation network and support the design and development of advanced semiconductor solutions for next-generation computing and data infrastructure applications.
Marvell's Vice President and India Country Manager, Navin Bishnoi, said India has become a strategic engineering hub for the company and continues to play an important role in developing infrastructure technologies used by leading hyperscale and cloud service providers. He added that as the company marks two decades in India, it remains committed to increasing its research and development investments, supporting the country's semiconductor ecosystem and nurturing the next generation of technology talent.
Marvell began its India operations in Bengaluru in 2006 and has since expanded the country into its second-largest research and development organisation globally. Over the years, the company has built engineering teams across Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, with expertise in advanced semiconductor process technologies, including 2-nanometre and beyond, high-speed analogue intellectual property (IP), subsystem design, software and firmware development, and end-to-end silicon development.
The announcement comes at a time when India is actively positioning itself as a global semiconductor manufacturing and design hub through initiatives such as the India Semiconductor Mission. The government has been encouraging global semiconductor companies to expand research, design and manufacturing capabilities in the country through policy support and financial incentives. Several international chipmakers and electronics companies have announced investments in India's semiconductor ecosystem over the past few years, reflecting the country's growing importance in the global supply chain.
