Synopsis

The LEGO Group has expanded its presence in India by opening its first LEGO Certified Store in Mumbai at R City Mall, Ghatkopar, in partnership with the Ample Group. The outlet is the company's fifth certified store in the country and features over 250 LEGO sets, including several exclusive products. Spread across 2,310 square feet, the store includes India’s first LEGO vertical Play Wall and Mumbai-inspired brick installations. The launch also featured a Guinness World Records attempt, community initiatives, and partnerships aimed at promoting creative play and supporting children through educational and charitable activities.

The LEGO Group has strengthened its retail presence in India with the opening of its first LEGO Certified Store in Mumbai at R City Mall in Ghatkopar. Opened in partnership with the Ample Group, the outlet is the company's fifth LEGO Certified Store in the country, following the launch of its first Indian store in Gurugram over a year ago and subsequent stores in Bengaluru and Chennai.
With the new store, customers in Mumbai can explore more than 250 LEGO sets, including exclusive products such as the LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Megacar and the LEGO Icons Arcade Pinball Machine, which are available only through LEGO Certified Stores. The inauguration also attracted actors and digital creators including Rannvijay Singha, Ayush Mehra, Agasthya Shah, Raunaq Rajani and Ishpreet Balbir, who participated in interactive building sessions and fan engagement activities.
As part of the launch celebrations, LEGO enthusiasts joined noted Adult LEGO Fan Ritam Bhatnagar in attempting a Guinness World Records feat for the world's largest LEGO brick mosaic made using multiple panels. The installation was created with 738,000 LEGO bricks and featured landmarks and symbols associated with Mumbai, including the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the city's iconic black-and-yellow taxis, its coastline and a "Hello Mumbai" mosaic.
Spread across 2,310 square feet, the store introduces India's first LEGO vertical Play Wall. It also showcases several Mumbai-inspired brick-built displays, including a LEGO Dabbawala model made using 29,000 bricks, alongside installations representing the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the city's famous Kaali Peeli taxis. The store has been designed to offer interactive play experiences while reflecting Mumbai's culture and identity.
Bhavana Mandon, Country Manager, LEGO India, said Mumbai's history of being formed by seven islands made it a natural destination for the LEGO brand. She added that the company had taken the brand across the city through initiatives such as a LEGO Play Truck, a LEGO-themed Kaali Peeli taxi and a LEGO Metro campaign before the store launch. She further said the company was pleased to partner with the Ample Group and remained committed to expanding its presence in more Indian cities by bringing interactive play experiences to consumers.
Rajesh Narang, Founder and CEO of Ample Group, said the Mumbai store marked another milestone in the company's efforts to bring premium global retail experiences closer to Indian consumers. He added that the new outlet had been designed as an immersive destination where families and LEGO enthusiasts of all age groups could engage with the brand beyond traditional shopping.
Anuradha Singh, Head of Retail at Runwal Realty, said welcoming the city's first LEGO Certified Store at R City Mall aligned with the mall's strategy of introducing internationally recognised brands and experience-driven retail concepts. She added that the new store would strengthen the mall's family-focused offerings while attracting a wider customer base.
The launch celebrations also included participation from more than 300 children who took part in creative building activities and interactive sessions across different play zones. Visitors explored LEGO collections and participated in hands-on experiences throughout the day.
The celebrations continued beyond the opening weekend through community-focused initiatives. Families assembled specially designed LEGO MRI scanner models to help children understand medical imaging procedures, with the completed models set to be donated to hospitals. The LEGO Group also partnered with United Way Mumbai to donate 100 LEGO sets to underprivileged children, who were invited to experience dedicated FIFA and Spider-Man activity zones at the new store.
The latest opening comes as the LEGO Group continues to expand its presence in India, one of its priority growth markets. The company opened its first LEGO Certified Store in the country at Ambience Mall, Gurugram, before expanding to Bengaluru, Chennai and now Mumbai. LEGO Certified Stores offer exclusive product ranges, immersive brand experiences and interactive play zones that are not typically available through standard toy retailers.
