ITC Hotels Limited has signed a management agreement for a new Welcomhotel-branded property in Rajgir, Bihar, further expanding its hospitality portfolio in the state. The agreement was announced in the presence of Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Samrat Choudhary, and Anil Chadha, Managing Director of ITC Hotels Limited, as part of the company's strategy to strengthen its presence in destinations witnessing growing tourism demand.
The hotel will be developed under a long-term arrangement between the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation and Kalsi Buildcon Private Limited. The project is intended to support the state's efforts to promote Bihar as a destination for experiential, cultural and spiritual tourism while enhancing branded hospitality infrastructure in Rajgir.
Planned across a 2.67-acre site, Welcomhotel Rajgir will comprise 107 guest rooms and suites. The property will include an all-day dining restaurant, approximately 5,000 sq ft of indoor banqueting facilities and more than 12,000 sq ft of landscaped outdoor lawns. According to the company, these facilities are designed to cater to weddings, social gatherings, conferences and other large-format events alongside leisure travel.
Commenting on the development, Anil Chadha said Bihar is home to several of India's prominent cultural and spiritual destinations and continues to offer significant long-term opportunities for hospitality-led tourism. He stated that the signing of Welcomhotel Rajgir reinforces ITC Hotels' commitment to expanding its presence in the state. Chadha added that domestic travellers are increasingly seeking destinations offering authentic local experiences supported by branded hospitality, and noted that the company looks forward to its long-term association with Kalsi Buildcon Private Limited while contributing to Bihar's tourism development through internationally benchmarked hospitality experiences.
Sumeet Singh Kalsi, Director of Kalsi Buildcon Private Limited, said the company is pleased to partner with ITC Hotels Limited to introduce the Welcomhotel brand in Rajgir. He noted that the city's historical and cultural significance, together with its appeal to domestic and international visitors, presents an opportunity to develop a high-quality hospitality asset. Kalsi added that the project aims to reflect the character of the region while meeting the evolving expectations of travellers and, supported by ITC Hotels' service standards, is expected to become an important addition to Bihar's expanding tourism infrastructure.
The Rajgir signing follows ITC Hotels' recent agreement for a new ITC-branded hotel in Patna and the opening of the Welcomhotel Bodhgaya Hotel & Convention Centre. The company said these developments underline its continued expansion across Bihar and align with its strategy of strengthening its presence in demand-driven destinations.
ITC Hotels also stated that increasing interest in historical, spiritual and experiential travel continues to support the expansion of the Welcomhotel brand across emerging Tier II and Tier III cities with long-term tourism potential.
