The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has submitted detailed project reports (DPRs) for four proposed Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors, marking another step towards expanding high-speed regional connectivity across Delhi-NCR. The proposed routes include Delhi–Karnal, Ghaziabad–Jewar Airport, Delhi–Hapur and Delhi–Shahjahanpur–Neemrana–Behror. The projects are currently under evaluation by the Centre and participating state governments before decisions on approvals and funding are taken.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has submitted detailed project reports for four proposed Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors, signalling progress towards expanding the regional rapid transit network across Delhi-NCR. The proposed corridors are intended to improve intercity mobility, reduce travel time and strengthen connectivity between the national capital and neighbouring urban centres.
The proposed routes include Delhi–Karnal in Haryana, Ghaziabad–Jewar Airport in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi–Hapur and Delhi–Shahjahanpur–Neemrana–Behror, connecting key residential, industrial and commercial hubs within the National Capital Region. These corridors are expected to complement the existing Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat line while extending the reach of the high-speed transit system to emerging growth centres.
According to government officials, the DPRs have been prepared after examining technical feasibility, projected passenger demand, route alignments and integration with existing transport infrastructure. The reports have been submitted to the relevant ministries and state governments for appraisal, following which decisions on approvals, funding mechanisms and implementation timelines will be taken.
The Delhi–Karnal corridor is expected to enhance connectivity between the national capital and northern Haryana, benefiting daily commuters as well as industrial clusters along the route. Meanwhile, the Ghaziabad–Jewar Airport corridor is planned to provide faster access to the upcoming Noida International Airport, supporting the region's expanding aviation and logistics ecosystem.
The proposed Delhi–Hapur and Delhi–Shahjahanpur–Neemrana–Behror corridors are also expected to improve regional accessibility by linking rapidly developing residential zones, manufacturing centres and economic corridors. Improved connectivity through the Namo Bharat network could encourage transit-oriented development and reduce dependence on private vehicles for intercity travel.
The proposed corridors form part of the broader Regional Rapid Transit System vision aimed at creating a high-speed, sustainable public transport network across the National Capital Region. By integrating with metro systems, railway stations and airports, the network is expected to improve multimodal connectivity while supporting planned urban expansion.
While the submission of DPRs marks an important milestone, the projects will move to the next stage only after receiving statutory approvals and financial clearances from the Centre and the participating state governments. If approved, the new corridors would significantly expand the Namo Bharat network and further strengthen regional mobility across Delhi-NCR.
