Adani Group has denied media reports and market speculation claiming that it is planning to enter the airline business, stating that the reports are incorrect and have no factual basis.
Responding to the speculation, an Adani Enterprises spokesperson said the company categorically denied the reports suggesting that Adani Enterprises was planning to launch an airline. The spokesperson further clarified that the reports were entirely baseless and factually incorrect.
The company also stated that Adani Enterprises is not evaluating any proposal to enter the airline business, putting to rest speculation about its possible expansion into commercial aviation.
The clarification comes as the Adani Group continues to strengthen its presence in India's airport infrastructure sector. Through Adani Airport Holdings Ltd., the group manages eight airports, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangaluru and the under-development Navi Mumbai International Airport. However, the company has now made it clear that its aviation-related business remains focused on airport infrastructure and that it has no plans to start an airline.
The group has expanded its airport portfolio over the past few years after acquiring operations of multiple airports through public-private partnership agreements. It is also developing the Navi Mumbai International Airport, which is expected to become one of India's key aviation hubs once operational.
