Luxury tented resorts are increasingly finding favour among hospitality developers and travellers seeking immersive experiences that combine nature, comfort and destination-led storytelling. Moving beyond conventional hotels, these projects are being designed as integrated hospitality ecosystems that blend sustainability, mobility and premium accommodation. Design consultancy EuMo DesignIntelligence has contributed to several such developments across India and overseas, including projects in Ranthambore, Ladakh, Hampi, Nagaland, Bandhavgarh and Nigeria. The trend reflects changing traveller preferences towards experiential tourism, wildlife-based stays and wellness-focused destinations. Industry stakeholders note that luxury tented hospitality is evolving from a niche offering into a recognised segment within the broader tourism and resort real estate market, supported by growing demand for distinctive travel experiences and environmentally responsive development models.
Luxury tented resorts are gaining visibility across the hospitality landscape as developers increasingly focus on experiential tourism projects that offer a closer connection with nature while maintaining premium accommodation standards.
The segment has evolved beyond traditional camping concepts, with hospitality operators investing in high-end tented developments that integrate architecture, interior design, destination storytelling and sustainable infrastructure. Industry observers note that the shift is being driven by changing traveller preferences, with guests increasingly seeking immersive experiences rather than conventional hotel stays.
Among the firms involved in shaping this category is EuMo DesignIntelligence, a design consultancy founded in 2005 by Shanoo Bhatia and Harkaran Singh Grewal, popularly known as Gary Grewal. The company specialises in integrated brand, visitor and spatial experience design and has delivered projects across sectors including tourism, finance, healthcare, education and public institutions.
Gary Grewal, an alumnus of Sherwood College, Nainital, and the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, has played a key role in developing the firm's hospitality and spatial design portfolio. His work combines interior design, retail environments, furniture design and visitor experience planning to create destination-led hospitality concepts.
Over the past several years, EuMo has worked on multiple luxury tented hospitality projects in partnership with The Ultimate Travelling Camp (TUTC) and other hospitality operators.
One of its notable projects is Sawai Shivir near Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan, conceived as a luxury wildlife camp that combines safari experiences with premium hospitality within an eco-sensitive setting. The company also designed Chamba Camp at Thiksey in Ladakh, where temporary accommodation infrastructure was transformed into a high-end glamping experience adapted to challenging high-altitude conditions.
In Karnataka, EuMo worked on Kishkinda Camp in Hampi, integrating mobile hospitality infrastructure with the region's historic landscape and cultural heritage. Similar design principles were applied at Kohima Camp in Nagaland, where the focus was on creating a transportable hospitality ecosystem while maintaining environmental sensitivity and guest comfort.
The firm's hospitality portfolio extends beyond India. In Nigeria, EuMo partnered with Centenary City Developers FZE on The Range Chalets, a luxury safari resort within a private game park near Abuja. The project was envisioned as a permanent hospitality destination catering to affluent travellers seeking wildlife experiences within a high-comfort environment.
Another recent project, The Untamed Bandhavgarh in Madhya Pradesh, involved the development of an experiential masterplan and luxury camp environment designed around sustainability and contextual integration with the surrounding landscape.
According to industry stakeholders, the rise of luxury tented resorts reflects a broader transformation in tourism and hospitality real estate. As travellers place greater emphasis on wellness, nature, authenticity and personalised experiences, developers are increasingly exploring formats that move beyond conventional resort models.
The trend is also creating opportunities for design-led hospitality projects that combine architecture, technology and operational flexibility. For firms such as EuMo, the emphasis remains on creating environments that integrate visitor experience, spatial planning and brand identity into a single hospitality ecosystem.
As experiential tourism continues to expand across wildlife destinations, heritage locations and nature-focused retreats, luxury tented resorts are emerging as an increasingly prominent component of the hospitality development landscape.
