PropIQ World launches LandlordScore to bring transparency to India’s rental housing market

Synopsis

PropIQ World has launched LandlordScore, a tenant-led review platform designed to introduce greater transparency and accountability into India’s rental housing market. The platform enables tenants to submit verified reviews of landlords based on security deposit refunds, maintenance responsiveness, dispute history, communication standards and overall tenancy experience. The launch addresses a longstanding information imbalance in the rental ecosystem, where landlords routinely evaluate prospective tenants while tenants often have little visibility into a landlord’s track record before signing a lease. The initiative forms part of PropIQ World’s broader ambition to build a comprehensive real estate intelligence platform for Indian consumers.

Millions of Indians rent homes every year, yet the rental housing market continues to operate with limited transparency when it comes to evaluating landlords. While landlords commonly conduct background checks on prospective tenants by verifying identity, employment details and references, tenants typically have little information available regarding a landlord’s conduct, responsiveness or history of disputes.
Seeking to address this information gap, PropIQ World has launched LandlordScore, a platform that allows tenants to share verified experiences and reviews of landlords. The initiative aims to provide prospective renters with greater visibility into key aspects of the landlord-tenant relationship before they commit to a rental agreement.
According to Amar Jyoti, Founder of PropIQ World, the platform has been developed to address the significant information asymmetry that exists in India’s rental housing market. He stated that while landlords have extensive visibility into tenants, renters often have no reliable mechanism to assess landlords before making one of their most important financial decisions.
The LandlordScore platform enables tenants to rate landlords across five key parameters: security deposit refund behaviour, maintenance responsiveness, rental dispute history, communication and transparency, and an overall landlord rating based on lived tenancy experience. The platform seeks to create a structured repository of tenant feedback that can assist future renters in making more informed choices.
The concept draws inspiration from peer-review platforms that have transformed transparency in other sectors, including employment, hospitality and financial services. By applying similar principles to residential rentals, PropIQ World aims to introduce greater accountability and trust into landlord-tenant interactions.
The launch also reflects the company’s wider focus on improving information quality within India’s real estate sector. Beyond LandlordScore, PropIQ World offers more than 150 builder profiles and independent reviews, over 100 research-backed project appraisals, more than 350 real estate guides and a suite of decision-support tools designed for property buyers and investors.
The platform additionally provides visual project guides featuring walkthroughs, drone footage and construction updates, alongside area and locality intelligence covering major residential markets including Gurugram, Noida, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. It also maintains a database of more than 100,000 real estate brokers across India.
PropIQ World positions itself as a decision-focused real estate intelligence platform rather than a transaction marketplace. Its long-term vision includes becoming a landlord review platform similar to Glassdoor, a location intelligence platform shaped by resident experiences, and an independent property appraisal resource that helps consumers make better-informed real estate decisions.
With LandlordScore, the company is taking its first step towards creating a more transparent rental ecosystem, where prospective tenants can access structured information about landlords in much the same way buyers research developers and consumers review products and services before making important decisions.
