Prisma Properties has completed a land swap agreement with the municipality of Uppsala, paving the way for a new Lidl store development in the Gränby area. The company has also secured a 10-year lease agreement with Lidl for the upcoming store, providing long-term occupancy for the project. The transaction forms part of Prisma Properties' retail-focused development strategy and strengthens its presence in Sweden's growing commercial real estate market. The development is expected to contribute to the expansion of retail infrastructure in Uppsala while supporting continued demand from major grocery operators.
Prisma Properties has completed a land swap transaction with the municipality of Uppsala, enabling the development of a new Lidl store in the Gränby district of the Swedish city.
The company announced that it had entered into a land swap agreement with the local authority as part of plans to advance the retail project. Alongside the transaction, Prisma Properties secured a 10-year lease agreement with Lidl for the new store, ensuring a long-term tenant for the development.
The agreement marks another addition to Prisma Properties’ portfolio of retail and commercial real estate assets. The company has been actively focused on developing properties for grocery, discount retail and everyday consumer services, sectors that have generally shown resilience amid changing economic conditions.
The Gränby project is expected to strengthen retail offerings in the area while supporting Lidl’s continued expansion in Sweden. Long-term lease commitments from established retailers are often viewed as an important factor in improving income visibility and occupancy stability for commercial real estate developments.
Uppsala, one of Sweden’s fastest-growing urban centres, has witnessed continued investment in retail and mixed-use infrastructure in recent years. The latest development reflects ongoing collaboration between municipalities and private developers to support commercial growth and meet the needs of expanding residential communities.
While financial details of the land swap were not disclosed, the completion of the agreement allows Prisma Properties to move forward with the development process and execution of the new retail asset.
