Separately, Air India and Booking.com have entered into a partnership to provide integrated travel booking services, allowing customers to book accommodation through Air India's platforms while accessing exclusive rewards and benefits.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Embrassio Hotels & Resorts Private Ltd, the hospitality arm of Vrindara Group, for the development of a Holiday Inn hotel in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
The proposed hotel is scheduled to open in early 2030 and will feature 115 rooms and suites. The project marks another addition to IHG's growing presence in India, where international hotel operators are increasingly targeting religious, leisure and emerging tourism destinations alongside major metropolitan markets.
Commenting on the development, IHG Hotels & Resorts Managing Director, South West Asia, Sudeep Jain said the signing of Holiday Inn Mathura is in line with the company's strategy of expanding in high-potential destinations and bringing internationally recognised hospitality brands to locations where travellers are seeking reliable and trusted accommodation experiences.
Mathura, one of India's most significant religious tourism destinations, continues to attract a large number of domestic and international visitors annually. The planned hotel is expected to cater to both pilgrimage and leisure travel demand in the region.
IHG currently operates 52 hotels across six brands in India. The company also has a pipeline of 98 hotels that are expected to open over the next three to five years, reflecting its continued focus on expanding across key markets in the country. In a separate development, Air India and digital travel platform Booking.com have partnered to offer travellers a more integrated booking experience along with exclusive rewards.
Under the collaboration, customers can access a wide range of accommodation options worldwide through a dedicated co-branded platform available on Air India's website and mobile application. The platform is powered by Booking.com and will also provide loyalty benefits and rewards to members of Air India's Maharaja Club programme.
Air India Divisional Vice President and Head of Revenue Management Abhijit Menon said the partnership combines the airline's expanding global network with Booking.com's accommodation portfolio, enabling customers to enjoy greater convenience, wider choice and additional value throughout their journeys.
Laura Houldsworth, Managing Director and Vice President, Asia Pacific at Booking.com, said the collaboration brings together Booking.com's global accommodation inventory and Air India's growing international network, making it easier for travellers to book flights and accommodation through a single platform.
The partnership comes as airlines and travel platforms increasingly seek to offer end-to-end travel solutions, allowing customers to manage multiple aspects of their trips through integrated digital services.
