Resonia, the power transmission infrastructure business that emerged from Sterlite Power, has secured a transmission project in Telangana from Power Finance Corporation. The project is aimed at improving transmission connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana while supporting the integration of renewable energy from the Kurnool Renewable Energy Zone. The development includes a new 765/400 kV Doma substation, expansion of the Kurnool-IV pooling station, and associated transmission infrastructure. The project is expected to enhance grid flexibility, improve power evacuation capacity, and support the growing renewable energy network in southern India.
Resonia, the power transmission infrastructure business of the erstwhile Sterlite Power, has secured a transmission project in Telangana from Power Finance Corporation (PFC), marking another addition to its transmission portfolio in India.
The project is expected to strengthen power transmission connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana while improving grid flexibility in the region. It will also facilitate the large-scale integration of renewable energy generated from the Kurnool Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), which has emerged as one of the key clean energy hubs in southern India.
According to the company, the scope of work includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV Doma substation in Telangana, augmentation of the existing Kurnool-IV pooling station, and the development of associated high-capacity transmission infrastructure required to support growing power demand and renewable energy evacuation.
The company did not disclose the financial value of the project.
Commenting on the development, Resonia Chief Executive Officer Prashant Sinha said that as renewable energy capacity continues to expand rapidly across the country, resilient and high-capacity transmission systems remain essential for efficient power evacuation and maintaining grid stability.
The project comes at a time when India is accelerating investments in transmission infrastructure to support its renewable energy targets. Strengthening interstate transmission networks has become increasingly important as renewable energy generation clusters are often located far from major consumption centres.
Resonia is among the country's leading private transmission companies and operates a network spanning more than 14,499 circuit kilometres (CKM). The company has been involved in developing and managing transmission assets that support power evacuation and grid reliability across multiple states.
