Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday reviewed the progress of multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs), ropeway projects, intermodal stations and wayside amenities being developed across the country during a meeting of the National Highways Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML). The review assessed the implementation status of key transport infrastructure projects and measures required to expedite their completion.
According to an official statement, the minister highlighted the role of these infrastructure projects in developing an integrated transport network capable of supporting India's growing logistics and mobility requirements. The review covered project-level progress across multiple initiatives being undertaken by NHLML, which is responsible for developing logistics and transport infrastructure under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Gadkari said the development of multi-modal logistics parks, ropeways, intermodal stations and modern wayside amenities would strengthen multimodal connectivity while supporting more efficient movement of goods and passengers. He added that the projects are expected to contribute to improved logistics infrastructure, create new economic opportunities and promote balanced regional development.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed project-specific implementation challenges and directed all concerned agencies and stakeholders to address pending issues on priority. He instructed officials to expedite project execution by resolving bottlenecks affecting construction and delivery schedules.
According to the statement, the government views these projects as an important component of efforts to improve India's logistics ecosystem through integrated transport infrastructure. The projects are intended to enhance connectivity between different transport modes while improving the efficiency of freight movement and passenger services.
Gadkari also stated that the timely completion of the projects would help improve logistics efficiency and reduce transportation costs across the country. He added that the infrastructure being developed would provide modern facilities and amenities for commuters while strengthening the overall transport network.
The review forms part of the government's ongoing monitoring of large-scale transport infrastructure projects aimed at improving logistics performance and connectivity. Multi-modal logistics parks are being developed to integrate road, rail and other transport modes, while ropeways, intermodal stations and upgraded wayside amenities are intended to improve passenger mobility and supporting infrastructure across the national transport network.
