Tata Power Solaroof, a part of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has launched the 'Ghar Ghar Solar' campaign in Punjab, targeting the installation of rooftop solar systems with battery energy storage solutions across one lakh households over the next three years. According to the company, the initiative combines rooftop solar, battery storage and financing support to encourage wider adoption of distributed renewable energy. The programme aligns with the Centre's PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, under which eligible households can avail subsidies for rooftop solar installations. Tata Power has also introduced a village-focused campaign to promote community participation in solar adoption across rural and semi-urban areas.
Tata Power Solaroof, the rooftop solar business of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has launched the 'Ghar Ghar Solar' campaign in Punjab with a target of installing rooftop solar power systems integrated with battery energy storage solutions across one lakh households over the next three years. According to the company, the initiative aims to support wider adoption of distributed renewable energy by combining clean energy technology with financing solutions.
The campaign seeks to create an ecosystem that integrates rooftop solar installations, battery storage systems and financing support, enabling households to generate, store and utilise electricity from renewable sources. Tata Power said the programme is intended to make rooftop solar adoption more accessible for consumers across urban, semi-urban and rural areas of the state.
Praveer Sinha, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Power, said Punjab was emerging as a significant market for distributed renewable energy, driven by increasing electricity demand, growing consumer awareness and greater interest in sustainable energy solutions. He stated that the company planned to facilitate rooftop solar installations across one lakh homes in the state over the next three years.
According to the company, the initiative builds on the increasing adoption of rooftop solar systems under the Central government's PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under the scheme, eligible households can receive subsidies of INR 30,000 for rooftop solar systems of 1 kW capacity, INR 60,000 for 2 kW systems and up to INR 78,000 for systems with capacities of 3 kW and above, reducing the cost of residential solar installations.
Tata Power stated that rising electricity consumption, increasing awareness of sustainable energy and the need to optimise long-term electricity costs had contributed to growing interest in rooftop solar installations across Punjab. The company said the campaign complements the government's efforts to promote decentralised renewable energy adoption through residential rooftop solar systems.
As part of the programme, Tata Power Solaroof has also introduced the 'Mera Gaon, Mera Solar' initiative, which is aimed at encouraging collective adoption of rooftop solar systems across villages and semi-urban communities. According to the company, the initiative focuses on increasing awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy while supporting communities in adopting renewable energy solutions on a larger scale.
The company stated that the combined initiatives are intended to expand access to clean energy infrastructure across Punjab by promoting rooftop solar installations supported by battery storage, financing assistance and community participation.
