The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has initiated the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a proposed elevated corridor along the Dravyavati River, marking an important step towards improving Jaipur's urban road network and easing traffic congestion. The authority has appointed consultants to study the project's technical feasibility and prepare a comprehensive report that will guide the design, execution and implementation of the proposed corridor.
The consultancy assignment focuses on preparing a DPR for an elevated road aligned with the Dravyavati River while ensuring that the proposed infrastructure integrates engineering efficiency with environmental sustainability. According to the tender documents, the study will examine environmental impacts, hydraulic behaviour of the river system and road safety requirements before recommending the most suitable alignment and design for the corridor.
The project aims to create an alternative high-capacity transport corridor capable of reducing congestion on several major arterial roads across Jaipur. As traffic volumes continue to increase due to rapid urbanisation and expansion of residential and commercial areas, the elevated corridor is expected to improve travel efficiency by providing uninterrupted movement for commuters while reducing pressure on existing surface roads.
The DPR will include detailed engineering surveys, traffic assessments, geotechnical investigations and structural design recommendations. Consultants will also prepare cost estimates, construction methodologies, implementation schedules and financial projections that will help the authority evaluate the project's overall viability. Environmental safeguards, flood management measures and drainage planning will form key components of the study to ensure that the proposed structure does not adversely affect the Dravyavati River ecosystem.
