Force Motors has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to participate in the Centre's commercial vehicle replacement scheme for Delhi-NCR. Under the initiative, the company will offer OEM benefits through its authorised dealerships to eligible customers replacing older commercial vehicles. The scheme, approved by the Union Cabinet earlier this month with an outlay of INR 9,585 crore, aims to replace around 2.07 lakh BS-IV and older trucks and buses with BS-VI-compliant or electric vehicles to reduce emissions and modernise the region's commercial vehicle fleet.
Pune-based Force Motors has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to participate in the Central government's commercial vehicle replacement scheme for Delhi-NCR. Through the agreement, the company will support the implementation of the programme by offering the prescribed Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) benefits to eligible customers through its authorised dealership network across the Delhi-NCR region, in line with the scheme's guidelines.
The vehicle replacement scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet earlier this month with a total outlay of INR 9,585 crore for a period of two years. It is designed to encourage owners of trucks and buses registered in Delhi-NCR that comply with BS-IV or older emission standards to replace them with BS-VI-compliant or stricter emission-compliant vehicles, including electric vehicles.
Force Motors Managing Director Prasan Firodia said the company had partnered with the Central Government for the initiative aimed at modernising the commercial vehicle fleet in Delhi-NCR. He added that the scheme is aligned with the company's focus on providing cleaner and more efficient mobility solutions and will help fleet operators and customers transition to the latest generation of commercial vehicles through this collaborative effort.
The scheme is expected to facilitate the replacement of around 2.07 lakh commercial vehicles operating in the Delhi-NCR region. By encouraging the adoption of cleaner vehicles, the government aims to reduce vehicular emissions, improve air quality and accelerate the modernisation of the commercial transport fleet.
The initiative is funded by the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). It will be implemented jointly by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).
The vehicle replacement programme forms part of the government's broader efforts to tackle air pollution in Delhi-NCR. In recent years, the Centre has introduced measures such as the Vehicle Scrappage Policy and financial incentives to encourage the replacement of older, polluting vehicles with cleaner and more fuel-efficient alternatives.
