RITES Ltd. and Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on logistics infrastructure consultancy, marking a significant step towards strengthening India's multimodal logistics ecosystem. The agreement brings together RITES' expertise in transport infrastructure consultancy and project management with CONCOR's experience in container logistics and terminal operations to facilitate the timely development of key logistics assets across the country.
Under the MoU, RITES will provide Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services on a work-to-work basis for projects undertaken by CONCOR. The consultancy support will span the entire project lifecycle from concept to commissioning and will cover planning, design, execution and supervision of infrastructure projects.
The scope of services includes feasibility studies, preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), detailed engineering, architectural and structural design, project supervision, quality assurance, construction management and other technical consultancy services. By leveraging RITES' multidisciplinary engineering capabilities, the collaboration aims to ensure efficient planning and execution of logistics infrastructure projects.
The partnership will focus on developing and upgrading a wide range of logistics infrastructure, including multimodal logistics parks, inland container depots (ICDs), rail-linked terminals, warehouses, railway infrastructure, administrative buildings, roads, utilities and other supporting facilities. These assets are expected to improve cargo movement, strengthen supply chains and enhance the efficiency of freight transportation across the country.
According to the companies, the collaboration seeks to combine their respective strengths to deliver infrastructure projects more efficiently while supporting India's growing logistics requirements. As freight volumes continue to rise and multimodal connectivity gains greater policy emphasis, integrated infrastructure is expected to play a crucial role in reducing logistics costs and improving operational efficiency.
RITES, a Navratna public sector enterprise, has over five decades of experience in transport infrastructure consultancy and engineering, with projects executed across more than 55 countries. CONCOR, also a Navratna enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, is one of India's leading multimodal logistics service providers and plays a central role in container transportation through rail-linked logistics infrastructure.
The partnership aligns with the government's broader objective of strengthening logistics infrastructure through integrated planning and improved multimodal connectivity. Investments in logistics parks, freight terminals and supporting infrastructure are expected to enhance supply chain resilience, facilitate faster cargo movement and improve the competitiveness of India's transport network.
Through this collaboration, RITES and CONCOR aim to accelerate the execution of future logistics infrastructure projects while supporting the development of modern, efficient and sustainable multimodal logistics facilities that can cater to the country's growing trade and industrial requirements.
