Synopsis

ITC Hotels Ltd has signed a management agreement with Shyam Group Hotel and Resort to operate a 101-key Welcomhotel in the Karai area of Gandhinagar, strengthening its presence in Gujarat's hospitality market. Set across a nine-acre site, the hotel will feature guestrooms, multiple dining outlets, banquet facilities and landscaped event lawns, targeting business travellers, weddings, social events and the MICE segment. Strategically located between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, with connectivity to Ahmedabad Airport and GIFT City, the property forms part of ITC Hotels' expansion strategy in high-growth markets. The hotel is expected to commence operations later this year.

ITC Hotels Ltd has signed a management agreement to operate a 101-key Welcomhotel in the Karai area of Gandhinagar, further expanding its presence in Gujarat as the hospitality company continues to strengthen its portfolio in key business and emerging leisure destinations across the country.
Announced in the past week, the hotel will be developed in partnership with Shyam Group Hotel and Resort and will be managed under the Welcomhotel brand. The property is located on a nine-acre land parcel in Karai, strategically positioned between Gandhinagar's commercial district and Ahmedabad, offering connectivity to Ahmedabad Airport, GIFT City and major business and sporting hubs in the region. According to the company, the hotel is scheduled to open later this year.
The proposed development will comprise 101 guestrooms and suites alongside a range of hospitality and event facilities. Planned amenities include an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant and a coffee lounge, catering to both business and leisure guests.
The project has also been designed to serve the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) market, as well as destination weddings and social gatherings. It will provide more than 10,000 sq ft of indoor banquet and event space, supported by approximately 46,000 sq ft of landscaped outdoor lawns for large-format events.
Commenting on the development, ITC Hotels Managing Director Anil Chadha said Gujarat continued to record sustained growth in tourism, supported by infrastructure development, improved connectivity and increasing demand for cultural, spiritual and leisure travel. He said the new Welcomhotel in Karai would strengthen the company's network across business, leisure and MICE segments while delivering hospitality experiences that reflect the region's local identity.
Kamleshkumar Babulal Chauhan, Partner at Shyam Group Hotel and Resort, said the partnership with ITC Hotels reflected a shared objective of establishing a hospitality destination catering to leisure travellers as well as large social and corporate events. He added that the association with ITC Hotels was expected to establish new standards for hospitality in the region while supporting Gujarat's continued development.
Karai has emerged as a developing hospitality and commercial micro-market owing to its proximity to Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and GIFT City, supported by improving transport infrastructure and expanding business activity. The location has increasingly attracted hospitality investments aimed at serving corporate travellers, government visitors and event-based demand.
The signing aligns with ITC Hotels' broader strategy of expanding its managed hotel portfolio across markets demonstrating long-term demand potential. Gujarat remains one of the company's focus markets, driven by industrial growth, business travel, tourism and the continued expansion of convention and event infrastructure.
