Synopsis

The Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) has commenced the development of a Central Nursery spread across 18 acres in Amaravati to support large-scale roadside plantation across the capital city. Located at the junction of the N-10 Seed Access Road (E-03) between Lingayapalem and Uddhandarayunipale villages, the nursery will serve as the primary stock point for saplings required for avenue plantation along nearly 700 km of roads. The project aims to improve greenery, provide shade, and enhance the urban environment as infrastructure development progresses across the capital region.

Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) has started developing a Central Nursery at the junction of the N-10 Seed Access Road (E-03), situated between Lingayapalem and Uddhandarayunipale villages in Amaravati. The initiative is aimed at supporting large-scale plantation activity along the capital city's road network and strengthening its green infrastructure.
The nursery is being developed to supply saplings for tree plantation along both sides of nearly 700 km of roads that are being constructed as part of the capital city's infrastructure development. The plantation drive is expected to improve air quality, increase green cover and provide shade along key road corridors.
ADC Chairperson and Managing Director D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy said the organisation has set a target of raising 45,000 saplings at the Central Nursery. She recently planted saplings at the site and formally launched development activities for the nursery.
According to ADC, the facility will function as the main stock point for the Horticulture Department. Saplings required for roadside plantation across the capital region will be stored and distributed from this location, helping streamline plantation and maintenance activities.
The nursery is planned across 18 acres, with development work being taken up in phases. The first phase will cover 10 acres, while the remaining area will be developed subsequently based on project requirements.
As part of the infrastructure being created at the nursery, a greenhouse will also be established. The facility will help maintain suitable growing conditions for young plants by retaining heat and providing a controlled environment for their growth and protection.
The development of the Central Nursery forms part of the broader landscaping and urban greening efforts being undertaken alongside Amaravati's road and infrastructure projects. Avenue plantations are commonly integrated into large-scale city planning initiatives to improve environmental quality, reduce heat stress and create more sustainable urban spaces.
