The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) conducted a Gram Sabha in Velagapudi village as part of ongoing land acquisition activities for the development of Amaravati, the state's capital city. Senior APCRDA officials informed villagers that farmers whose lands were included in the recent acquisition notification still have an opportunity to join the Land Pooling Scheme within the prescribed timeline. The authority also addressed concerns related to village infrastructure, including drinking water and street lighting, while highlighting the progress of development works in returnable plot layouts and other capital region projects.
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) conducted a Gram Sabha in Velagapudi village to discuss land acquisition and development activities linked to the construction of Amaravati, the People's Capital City. The meeting was attended by APCRDA Commissioner V. Vijayarama Raju, IAS, Additional Commissioners A. Bhargava Teja, IAS, and Kollabathula Karthik, IAS, along with officials from various departments.
During the interaction with villagers, the Commissioner explained that the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) had been implemented to facilitate the construction of roads, development zones and other infrastructure projects across the capital city. He said that while a large number of landowners had participated in the pooling process, some farmers had not opted for the scheme despite several rounds of discussions. As a result, APCRDA recently issued a land acquisition notification in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.
The Commissioner clarified that farmers still have an opportunity to participate in the Land Pooling Scheme. He noted that even landowners whose names were included in the recent acquisition notification can choose land pooling within the stipulated period and avail themselves of the benefits associated with the scheme.
Responding to local concerns, the Commissioner assured villagers that the issue of street lighting would be addressed in coordination with senior officials of APTRANSCO. He also stated that development works in capital region villages are being carried out under the Capital Infrastructure Investment Plan (CIIP) and assured residents that the village's drinking water issues would be resolved. Engineering Officer Dhanalakshmi was directed to undertake immediate cleaning of the drinking water tank and ensure the issue is addressed at the earliest.
The authority also informed villagers that development works in the layouts of returnable plots allotted to farmers are progressing steadily. According to officials, the developed plots will be handed over to beneficiaries after the completion of the ongoing infrastructure works.
The Commissioner further stated that APCRDA has prepared comprehensive plans for infrastructure development across villages in the Capital Region and is implementing them in a phased manner. With construction activities under the Amaravati Development Project gaining momentum, he sought continued cooperation from farmers and residents for the smooth execution of development works.
Farmers who have already received returnable plots were advised to complete the registration process at the respective Competent Authority offices operating in the region. Officials said the registrations would help streamline the allotment and utilisation of developed plots as infrastructure creation progresses.
The Gram Sabha concluded with APCRDA officials addressing queries raised by villagers and reiterating the authority's commitment to infrastructure development and civic improvements across the Capital Region.
