The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has invited applications from eligible organisations and associations for the nomination of members to the Navi Mumbai Town Vending Committee under the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014. The nominations are being sought under provisions of the Maharashtra Street Vendors Rules, 2016 for representatives from non-governmental organisations, community-based organisations, resident welfare associations, traders' associations and marketing associations. Applications must be submitted within 15 days from 11 June 2026. The committee plays a key role in implementing policies related to street vending, regulating vending activities and protecting the livelihoods of street vendors. Interested organisations are required to fulfil prescribed eligibility criteria, including registration status, operational experience and compliance with legal and financial requirements.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has issued a public notice inviting applications for the nomination of members to the Navi Mumbai Town Vending Committee, which is being constituted under the provisions of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014. The nominations are being sought in accordance with Sections 11 and 12 of Chapter IV of the Maharashtra Street Vendors Rules, 2016.
The civic body has called for applications from eligible organisations and associations for representation in specific categories of the committee. The vacancies include two members from the non-governmental organisation or community-based organisation category, two members from resident welfare associations, one member from traders' associations and one member from marketing associations.
According to the public notice, applications must be submitted in the prescribed format within 15 days from 11 June 2026 during office hours. The application format has been made available on the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's official website. Applications received after office hours on the final submission date will not be accepted.
NMMC has specified a set of eligibility criteria for organisations seeking nomination to the committee. Applicant organisations must be duly registered with the competent authority in their respective fields. They are also required to submit audited financial reports for the previous three years as prepared and approved by the competent authority.
Further, organisations must not have been blacklisted by any local authority and should not have been convicted under any law in force at the time of application. The civic body has also stipulated that applicant organisations should possess a minimum of five years' experience in the category under which they have been registered with the competent authority.
Eligible organisations are required to submit applications along with supporting documents demonstrating compliance with the prescribed qualifications. Municipal authorities stated that if the number of applications received exceeds the number of available positions, the selection and appointment of members will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the applicable rules.
The Town Vending Committee is a statutory body established under the Street Vendors Act to facilitate the regulation of street vending activities, oversee implementation of vending policies and safeguard the interests and livelihoods of street vendors while balancing urban planning and public space management requirements.
NMMC has informed prospective applicants that the relevant government resolutions, provisions of the Act, applicable rules and detailed terms and conditions will be available for inspection at the municipal corporation's offices during working hours, excluding public holidays. The civic body has urged eligible organisations and associations to submit their applications within the stipulated timeframe to be considered for nomination to the committee.
