The Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) has intensified its focus on flood control measures in the capital region following recent rainfall. ADC Chairperson and Managing Director D. Lakshmiparthasarathy reviewed the ongoing development and drainage works at Kondaveeti Vagu and Palavagu and directed officials to ensure that all projects progress without disruption. The review covered critical locations, including water drainage channels, stream crossings, and bypass bridge points. Officials were instructed to remove obstructions, closely monitor water flow, and carry out regular inspections to strengthen flood management and prevent waterlogging in vulnerable areas of Amaravati.
Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) Chairperson and Managing Director D. Lakshmiparthasarathy has directed officials to ensure that the development and flood control works being undertaken at Kondaveeti Vagu and Palavagu in the capital region continue without any interruptions.
Following recent rainfall in the region, the ADC conducted a review of the ongoing works at Kondaveeti Vagu and Palavagu on Thursday. The inspection focused on key flood management measures and the progress of activities aimed at improving water drainage and reducing the risk of flooding in vulnerable areas.
During the review, officials assessed the flood control works that had been identified during earlier inspections. Particular attention was given to the removal of obstructions affecting the flow of water in Palavagu between Rayapudi and Venkatapalem. Officials examined the status of drainage channels and the measures being taken to facilitate the smooth movement of rainwater.
The inspection also covered the work being carried out on the upstream and downstream stretches of Kondaveeti Vagu near the E-11 Road West Bypass Junction. The ADC chief reviewed the progress of works at locations where multiple streams intersect near the West Bypass and instructed officials to deploy additional chain-mounted machinery and remove any barriers that could impede water flow.
Engineering teams were specifically directed to conduct regular monitoring of stream flow and flood management conditions at the E-4, E-10, E-11 and E-12 West Bypass bridges. The move is aimed at ensuring that any potential drainage issues are identified and addressed quickly during the monsoon period.
Kondaveeti Vagu is one of the key drainage channels in the Amaravati capital region and plays an important role in managing stormwater runoff during heavy rains. Over the years, flood mitigation and drainage improvement works in the area have remained a priority as the capital city continues to develop its infrastructure network.
The inspection was attended by ADC Chief Engineers B. Narasimha Murthy and Ch. Dhananjaya, Superintending Engineers K. Rammohan Rao and V. Srinivas, Executive Engineers K. Basaveshwara Rao, V. Padmakar and B. Sridhar, Deputy Engineer Y. Srinivas, along with representatives from MVR Infra.
