Synopsis

SpiceJet has announced plans to strengthen its fleet by adding three Airbus A320 aircraft on a damp lease arrangement next month. The airline has already finalised the lease agreement for the narrowbody planes as part of its ongoing fleet expansion strategy. In addition, SpiceJet has reintroduced a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft into commercial operations after bringing it back from the ground. The move is aimed at meeting rising passenger demand during the peak travel season, while also improving operational flexibility and supporting the airline’s domestic and international network requirements.

SpiceJet has said it will induct three Airbus A320 aircraft on a damp lease next month as part of its efforts to expand fleet capacity and support network growth.
The airline stated that it has already finalised the lease agreement with the lessor for the three narrowbody aircraft. The addition is expected to strengthen the carrier’s operations during the upcoming high-demand travel period.
Alongside the planned induction of the Airbus aircraft, SpiceJet has also brought a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft back into commercial service after it was previously grounded. The move adds further capacity to the airline’s fleet and is expected to improve operational efficiency.
According to the airline, the additional aircraft will help meet network requirements across both domestic and international routes while providing greater operational flexibility. The expanded fleet is also expected to support passenger demand during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Chief Business Officer Debojo Maharshi said the new aircraft would help the airline cater to growing passenger demand, improve operational resilience and provide greater flexibility across its network. He further indicated that SpiceJet remains focused on gradually expanding its fleet and strengthening operational preparedness as it continues with its growth plans.
The latest fleet addition comes as SpiceJet works to enhance capacity and improve network deployment. In recent months, the airline has been taking steps to restore aircraft to service and increase fleet availability as part of its broader operational strategy.
