The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) recently conducted demolition drives in Khajrana and Nipania, targeting illegal constructions. In Khajrana, a three-story building and an unauthorized commercial structure were demolished due to lack of permits, despite prior warnings. In Nipania, illegal encroachments at Tanya Resort, including a clubhouse and pool, were removed. IMC officials emphasized that these actions followed repeated notifications ignored by property owners. This reflects IMC's ongoing efforts to enforce zoning regulations and prevent unplanned development, as demonstrated by past demolitions in Chhoti Khajrani and Khajrana Main Road. The IMC aims to ensure adherence to municipal norms for better urban planning.
The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) recently carried out demolition drives to remove illegal buildings in the regions of Khajrana and Nipania.
According to IMC assistant commissioner Lata Agrawal, a three-story building on a 5,000-square-foot property in Khajrana was demolished, and illegal encroachments of more than one lakh square feet at Tanya Resort in Nipania were removed. Despite receiving notifications to halt building and dismantle the unauthorized structures, the owners maintained their operations, prompting IMC's intervention.
Additionaly, under the orders of municipal commissioner Shivam Verma, an IMC team demolished the under-construction structure at 12 Haji Colony, near Bada Madrasa in Khajrana, Ward 38, Zone 19. The structure, owned by Zuber and others, was being built for commercial uses without the requisite permits. The operation, which required three earthmoving equipment, resulted in the demolition of the basement, ground, and two stories.
In a separate operation, IMC shut down an unlicensed building at Tanya Resort in Nipania, Ward 36, Zone 22. Officials noted that the resort contained multiple unlawful structures, including a clubhouse, swimming pool, restaurant, turf, and a covered badminton court, which had all been built without required licenses.
IMC has been constantly taking action against unlawful developments throughout the city. In August 2024, the civic government demolished a part of a structure in Chhoti Khajrani that exceeded the permitted construction restrictions. Similarly, in October 2022, a 20,000-square-foot community center on Khajrana Main Road was demolished for being illegally built and interfering with a proposed link road project. These previous measures demonstrate IMC's dedication to enforcing zoning restrictions and promoting planned urban development.
Despite repeated warnings, property owners have continued with illegal developments, necessitating stern action. By taking decisive action, IMC sends a clear message that infractions of municipal norms will not be allowed, resulting in improved urban infrastructure and planned expansion for the city.
