Indian Railways has launched RailParcel, a pilot initiative to improve rail-based parcel movement across seven cities Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru and Chennai under the South Central Railway zone. The pilot is digitally enabled through ROQIT, a platform developed by AION-Tech Solutions Limited, which provides a workflow and coordination layer for parcel operations during the proof-of-concept phase. RailParcel aims to introduce structured digitisation of booking and operational processes, enhance shipment visibility, and enable interoperability with existing railway systems, including CRIS. The initiative aligns with Indian Railways broader push to modernise logistics, improve multimodal coordination and leverage its largely electrified network to support more efficient and sustainable parcel transportation.Read more

The Parel Sewri stretch in central-eastern Mumbai is witnessing a gradual repositioning as a potential luxury residential micro-market, driven by large-scale infrastructure upgrades and land availability. Improved connectivity through the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, originating near Sewri, has strengthened access to Navi Mumbai, while proposed road and connector projects are set to enhance links with South and Central Mumbai. Parel's established luxury housing ecosystem, shaped by mill land redevelopment, is now converging with Sewri's industrial land parcels, which are beginning to attract residential and mixed-use interest. Industry stakeholders point to the availability of larger plots, infrastructure-led regeneration and waterfront adjacency as factors supporting premium housing formats. The shift reflects a broader eastward expansion of Mumbai's luxury residential landscape beyond traditional western corridors.Read more

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has approved new regulatory measures that introduce a two-stage verification system for construction and demolition (C&D) waste management, aimed at tightening oversight and curbing illegal disposal that contributes to pollution and roadside dumping. Under the system, builders and developers must account for anticipated waste at the planning stage and again before obtaining an occupancy certificate, submitting proof of disposal through authorised channels. Municipal bodies will be required to establish authorised waste drop-off points within every 5 km 5 km grid, and environmental compliance will be tracked using a digital system featuring GPS and geo-tagging. The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) will enforce the requirements and impose penalties for violations. The measures reflect broader efforts to align city practices with national waste-management directives and stem mounting concerns about unregulated debris disposal and its impact on air quality and urban liveability.Read more
