Traffic on the Mumbai Coastal Road has grown nearly seven times in under two years, with average daily usage now crossing 63,000 vehicles. The corridor has handled over 3.16 crore vehicles since opening and has become a key route for South Mumbai commuters due to major travel time savings. Growth picked up after full access and 24-hour operations were introduced. The Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) has accelerated the long-pending shifting of the Telugu Ganga drinking water pipeline to facilitate a critical road project linking Karakambadi Road and Renigunta Road. The 2.9 km underground pipeline, which has historically constrained infrastructure development due to its zigzag alignment, is being relocated with funding support from TUDA. The initiative, reported in the past week, resolves a major bottleneck that had delayed the road project despite earlier allocations of around INR 19.5 crore by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The pipeline relocation, estimated to require around INR 3 crore, is expected to enable road construction and support Tirupati's planned urban growth, improving connectivity and easing congestion in the expanding temple city.Read more

The completion of the Aroor-Thuravoor elevated highway in Kerala has been delayed due to an ongoing dispute between the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) over the relocation of extra high-tension power lines. The 12.75 km project, estimated at around INR 2,200 crore and nearing 90 per cent completion, has been stalled for several months as shutdown permissions required for shifting power lines remain pending. While approvals have been granted at two locations, a critical stretch near Aroor continues to hold up construction. The delay has affected timelines for structural completion and traffic opening, with commuters continuing to face congestion along NH-66. The project is intended to ease traffic movement along one of Kerala's busiest corridors.Read more
