Juniper Green Energy, through its subsidiary Juniper Nirjara Energy, has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with SJVN Ltd for a 50 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy project. The PPA carries a tariff of INR 4.25 per unit and requires the project to provide four hours of peak-hour supply with 90% monthly availability, along with a minimum annual capacity utilisation factor. The project will integrate solar power with battery energy storage to meet these supply requirements. The agreement expands Juniper’s FDRE portfolio and strengthens its integrated renewable energy and storage capabilities.
Juniper Green Energy, through its subsidiary Juniper Nirjara Energy, has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with SJVN Ltd for a 50 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project. The agreement provides for a tariff of INR 4.25 per unit over the 25-year contract period. Under the PPA, Juniper will be required to provide four hours of peak-hour power supply with 90% availability on a monthly basis, along with meeting the minimum annual capacity utilisation factor specified under the bid requirements.
The project will combine multiple renewable energy technologies, including solar power generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS), to meet the contracted supply obligations. The combination is intended to enable the project to provide more predictable and dispatchable renewable power compared with standalone generation.
The project was awarded under the SJVN FDRE-2 tender, which was issued through tariff-based competitive bidding. Juniper Green Energy received the Letter of Award for the project on February 3, 2025.
The signing of the PPA adds another project to Juniper Green Energy's growing portfolio of FDRE developments. The company said the agreement strengthens its partnership with SJVN and supports its strategy of developing a larger portfolio of firm and dispatchable renewable energy projects.
FDRE projects are designed to address the intermittency of renewable generation by combining different technologies and storage capabilities to meet specified power supply requirements. In this project, the integration of solar generation with BESS will support the required peak-hour supply and availability commitments.
Following the addition of the 50 MW project, Juniper Green Energy's renewable energy portfolio stands at 11,216 MWp. This is complemented by 8,989 MWh of BESS capacity, reflecting the company's increasing focus on combining renewable generation with energy storage infrastructure.
The project also adds to the company's presence in the emerging renewable energy segment focused on supplying power according to defined availability and dispatch requirements.
