Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited has received a GST show cause notice from the Dehradun GST authority demanding nearly INR 11.34 crore for alleged short payment of taxes across four financial years. The demand covers FY 2020-21 to FY 2023-24 and includes INR 11.33 crore in tax and INR 50,000 as penalty. The company said the notice relates mainly to alleged short payment of tax on services supplied in Uttarakhand and differences in reported turnover. Mahindra Holidays said it does not expect the matter to have a material financial impact and plans to pursue legal remedies.
Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited has received a show cause notice from the Dehradun GST authority demanding INR 11,33,69,421 for alleged tax shortfalls over four financial years.
The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing and said the notice was received by email on August 25. The demand covers FY 2020-21, FY 2021-22, FY 2022-23 and FY 2023-24.
Of the total amount, INR 11,33,19,421 relates to tax, while INR 50,000 has been levied as a penalty. The demand has been raised under provisions of the Uttarakhand Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
According to the company, the notice primarily concerns alleged short payment of tax on the supply of services in Uttarakhand and differences in turnover. Other issues related to the tax liability across the four financial years are also covered in the notice.
Mahindra Holidays said it does not expect the show cause notice to have any material financial impact on the company. It is taking appropriate steps to pursue legal remedies before the Additional/Joint Commissioner, Central GST Audit, Commissionerate, Dehradun.
The company will contest the demand through the available legal process while the GST authority's notice remains subject to further proceedings.
