The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has granted a four-month extension to eligible registered real estate projects, citing the impact of the prevailing situation in West Asia on the real estate sector. The extension covers both the validity of project registrations and the stipulated completion period. Projects whose original, revised or previously extended completion date falls between February 28 and October 31, 2026, will qualify. The decision follows an advisory issued by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which recommended a blanket four-month extension for projects affected by extraordinary circumstances.
The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has approved a four-month extension for eligible registered real estate projects affected by the prevailing situation in West Asia.
The extension will cover both the validity of project registrations and the stipulated project completion period. Projects whose original, revised or previously extended completion date falls between February 28 and October 31, 2026, will be eligible for the relief.
The four-month extension will be calculated from the existing expiry date of the project’s registration.
UP RERA said the decision was based on an advisory issued by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on July 31, which recommended a blanket four-month extension for real estate projects affected by extraordinary circumstances.
Eligible projects that meet all the prescribed conditions will receive the extension automatically. Promoters who have not completed any of the required compliances can complete them and submit a written request to UP RERA. The authority’s technical department will then process the extension after verifying the submitted details.
Projects that have already received a Completion Certificate or Occupancy Certificate will not qualify for the extension, as they do not require additional time for completion.
The decision provides additional time to eligible projects whose completion schedules fall within the specified period, while keeping the extension subject to the conditions laid down by UP RERA.
