Godrej Industries Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Haryana government to invest around INR 20,000 crore in the state, with the proposed investments expected to generate nearly 40,000 jobs. Godrej Properties will lead the expansion, with plans to invest an additional INR 16,000 crore by FY28 across its residential developments. The group's real estate investment arm, Godrej Ventures, will also deploy INR 3,500 crore in Grade A+ office infrastructure in Gurugram. The investment programme will expand the group's presence across residential, commercial, infrastructure and related services in Haryana.
Godrej Industries Group has entered into an agreement with the Haryana government to expand its investments in the state, with a proposed commitment of around INR 20,000 crore and the potential to generate approximately 40,000 jobs.
The memorandum of understanding was signed on August 24 in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The proposed investment builds on the group's existing operations in the state, where it has already deployed about INR 12,000 crore and employs nearly 9,000 people across its businesses.
Real estate is expected to account for a substantial portion of the planned capital deployment. Godrej Properties, the group's listed real estate arm, has invested approximately INR 11,000 crore in Haryana so far and intends to commit another INR 16,000 crore by FY28.
The developer currently has 18 projects spread across Gurugram, Sonipat, Faridabad, Panipat and Kurukshetra. Its planned developments are expected to generate more than 11,000 employment opportunities, adding to the economic activity associated with its expanding project portfolio.
The group's real estate private equity business, Godrej Ventures, is also planning a significant expansion in Gurugram. It has already invested around INR 1,000 crore in the state and proposes to deploy another INR 3,500 crore towards Grade A+ office infrastructure.
The office investment is expected to have a wider employment impact, with the proposed developments projected to support more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs. The expansion is also aimed at strengthening Gurugram's commercial infrastructure and its ability to attract multinational companies and global capability centres.
The group's plans extend beyond property development. Godrej Capital operates five branches in Haryana and has facilitated around INR 550 crore in bookings through its financing business. Godrej Consumer Products has an established distribution network in the state comprising 42 direct distributors and more than 250 rural stockists.
Godrej Industries Group has also undertaken infrastructure and community initiatives in Haryana. Its activities include support for construction workers, weather-related insurance initiatives and restoration and beautification efforts in public spaces in Karnal and Kurukshetra. The group said it spends about INR 1 crore annually on corporate social responsibility initiatives in the state and has invested more than INR 10 crore in infrastructure-related projects.
The investment agreement comes as Haryana, particularly the Gurugram region, continues to attract substantial activity in residential development, office space and associated services. The combination of urban expansion, commercial demand and infrastructure development has created opportunities across multiple segments in the state's property market.
For Godrej Industries Group, the new commitment marks a further expansion of an established presence rather than an entry into the market. Its proposed investments cover several parts of the real estate ecosystem, from housing and office assets to financing and related services.
The execution of the proposed projects will now depend on project-level planning, approvals and implementation timelines. For Haryana, the investment could bring additional construction activity, office and residential supply, employment and demand for supporting services.
The MoU therefore establishes a broad investment framework, with Godrej Industries Group expected to work with the state government to take individual projects forward across the coming years.
