Synopsis

Brahmaputra Infrastructure Ltd has formally signed a five-year Performance Based Maintenance Contract with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the operation and maintenance of an 87.18-km stretch of NH-502A in southern Mizoram, valued at INR 70.18 crore. The corridor runs towards Lawngtlai near the India-Myanmar border, and the contract, executed through the PWD Highway division in Aizawl, covers routine operations and monsoon-related maintenance over a 60-month tenure.

Brahmaputra Infrastructure Ltd has formally executed and signed an agreement with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRT&H) for the operation and maintenance of the NH-502A corridor in Mizoram, including monsoon maintenance, in a contract valued at INR 70.18 crore. The agreement was executed through the Chief Engineer, Public Works Department (Highway), Aizawl, Mizoram.
The Performance Based Maintenance Contract covers an 87.18-km stretch of NH-502A, from kilometre 0.000 to kilometre 87.180, running through southern Mizoram towards Lawngtlai, in a region that forms part of India's connectivity network near the Myanmar border. The scope of work includes standard highway operations and maintenance activities alongside dedicated monsoon-related upkeep, and the contract carries a tenure of 60 months, or five years.
The company had earlier emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the contract following a competitive national bidding process conducted by MoRT&H, with the formal signing marking the conclusion of the post-bid evaluation process. Given the remote location and challenging terrain along the corridor, execution of the contract will require Brahmaputra Infrastructure to establish local infrastructure, including plant, machinery, camps and logistics support, along with the deployment of skilled manpower in the region.
The company has stated that the contract is expected to strengthen its presence in the Northeast, a region it has previously described as strategically important given the area's proximity to the India-Myanmar border and the broader federal push to enhance connectivity and security infrastructure along the border belt. The project adds to Brahmaputra Infrastructure's existing portfolio of maintenance and construction contracts in the region, following an earlier contract win worth INR 25.78 crore for road maintenance work awarded by the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited in Assam, as well as a separate railway contract valued at INR 81.98 crore secured earlier this year.
Brahmaputra Infrastructure Ltd operates primarily in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and civil construction segments, with experience spanning roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings and other infrastructure categories. The company's shares have traded in the range of approximately INR 160 to INR 164 around the time of the contract signing, with a market capitalisation of close to INR 464 crore. The NH-502A contract is expected to add long-term revenue visibility to the company's maintenance business, consistent with its broader strategy of building a recurring project pipeline across India's Northeast infrastructure market.
