Synopsis

HSBC India has inaugurated a new branch in Nashik, Maharashtra, as part of its wider strategy to expand wealth banking services for affluent, high-net-worth and non-resident Indian clients across emerging growth centres. Nashik, which has a proposed investment pipeline of 314 projects worth over INR 14,000 crore, joins a list of cities where HSBC has opened branches following Reserve Bank of India approval in 2025 for 20 new locations. The bank now operates 34 branches across 22 Indian cities.

HSBC India has opened a new branch in Nashik, Maharashtra, as part of its continued expansion across the country's wealth and industrial centres, with a focus on serving affluent, high-net-worth, ultra-high-net-worth and non-resident Indian clients. The bank said the move formed part of its broader strategy around wealth opportunities, an area in which it positions itself as offering a full range of solutions across international wealth and premier banking, as well as corporate and institutional banking.
According to HSBC, Nashik is emerging as a significant growth centre contributing to Maharashtra's output, investment and employment, with the city developing as a multi-sector hub spanning engineering, electricals, food processing, logistics, textiles and hospitality. The bank cited data indicating that Nashik currently has a proposed pipeline of 314 projects, with intended investment exceeding INR 14,000 crore and the potential to generate more than 35,000 employment opportunities, positioning the city as a next-generation investment destination. HSBC said the new branch had been located strategically to serve the evolving financial and wealth needs of this expanding customer base, in a period during which India's high-net-worth population grew by 11,300 individuals in 2025.
Sandeep Batra, Head of International Wealth and Premier Banking at HSBC India, said the country's wealth creation was extending well beyond metro cities, with centres such as Nashik reflecting how entrepreneurship and ambition were translating into rising personal wealth and increasingly global financial requirements. He said the new branch was intended to bring the bank closer to its customers in the city, offering banking and wealth solutions tailored to their needs, whether related to building businesses, investing, or managing wealth and opportunities across borders.
HSBC has maintained a presence in India for more than 170 years and currently operates a network of 34 branches across 22 cities in the country. The Nashik branch follows a series of recent openings in Amritsar, Indore, Vadodara, Lucknow, Nagpur, Surat and Thiruvananthapuram, all undertaken after the Reserve Bank of India approved the bank's plan in 2025 to open 20 new branches in key Indian cities. The bank has indicated that further branches are planned in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Faridabad, Jalandhar, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Mysuru, Navi Mumbai, Patna, Rajkot and Visakhapatnam as part of the same expansion drive.
HSBC India operates across banking, investment banking and capital markets, asset management, insurance, software development and global resourcing, employing more than 48,000 people in the country and functioning as one of its leading custodian banks. It also plays a role in facilitating outbound investment by Indian companies as well as inbound foreign investment into the country. HSBC's parent entity, HSBC Holdings plc, is headquartered in London and serves customers through offices in 56 countries and territories, with assets of USD 3,438 billion as of 30 June 2026, making it one of the world's largest banking and financial services organisations.
