Eleven firms have reportedly expressed interest in taking up around 1.26 lakh sq ft of space at the Ananta IT Park in Ujjain, signalling growing demand for commercial space linked to the city’s emerging technology ecosystem. The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) is developing the project in phases, with Phase 2 involving construction of an IT park building at Ujjain. The official tender document places the value of the Phase 2 construction work at INR 46 crore, with a planned execution period of 730 days.
Ujjain’s Ananta IT Park is attracting interest from companies seeking office space, with 11 firms reportedly looking for a combined 1.26 lakh sq ft at the development. The interest comes as the Madhya Pradesh government continues to build out the technology and commercial infrastructure needed to establish Ujjain as a destination for IT and related businesses.
The official project records identify the development as Ananta IT Park Building Phase 2, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The project is being undertaken by the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation Limited (MPIDC), with the construction package categorised as civil works for buildings. The tender document places the estimated value of the Phase 2 construction contract at INR 46 crore.
The tender provides for a 730-day construction period, indicating that the second phase is planned as a substantial addition to the existing IT park infrastructure. The project is located in Ujjain, with the tender specifying the project location as PIN code 456010. The bid validity period was set at 180 days.
The development of additional built-up space is significant as demand from prospective occupiers can determine how quickly an emerging IT destination develops an ecosystem of offices and supporting commercial activity. The reported requirement of 1.26 lakh sq ft from 11 firms represents interest from companies looking to establish or expand operations in the city.
The official tender documents also indicate that the Phase 2 project includes detailed technical specifications and drawings. The procurement record lists a detailed bill of quantities, a request for proposal, drawings and a materials or make list among the documents associated with the work.
The tender was issued by MPIDC and identifies its headquarters in Bhopal as the address of the tender inviting authority. The procurement was structured as an open tender, with three covers covering the fee, technical and financial components. The tender carried a fee of INR 59,000, along with a processing fee of INR 1,180 including GST, while the earnest money deposit was fixed at INR 23 lakh.
However, the official procurement record also carries an important update: its latest corrigendum list records the cancellation of the tender. The document does not provide details explaining the reason for the cancellation.
This makes the reported interest from prospective occupiers particularly relevant to the next stage of the project. While demand for space could support the case for expanding IT infrastructure in Ujjain, the project's construction and procurement process will need to progress before the additional space can become operational.
The reported interest also reflects the potential for IT-focused developments to broaden Ujjain’s commercial base beyond its established tourism, religious and traditional economic activities. If the proposed office demand translates into actual occupancy, the IT park could support new employment opportunities and associated services.
For MPIDC, the immediate focus will be on taking forward the Phase 2 development after the cancelled tender. The project’s INR 46-crore construction package and planned two-year execution period provide the framework for the next stage of development, subject to the authority’s subsequent procurement process.
